How on earth did he get on ahead of Aribo??
That was a shocking sub
He is just not good enough at all

If Aribo is the answer, I'm not quite sure what the question is.

We do need to give some focus to the players likely to be here next season, and Aribo is not on that list.

That’s the key point.
Smallbone will be decent enough in the championship as will Adam Armstrong if he returns. Both though are clearly not premier league players should we miraculously return in a season or two.

I genuinely hope there is a mass clear out of the dross, but keeping hold of a couple of good championship players is a must. I’d like to see bednarek and Stephens both gone if only to break this common denominator of them being present in a team that lacks a decent backbone.

Smallbone won't be good enough. Having players like him is why we come nowhere near winning the Championship. Every time he comes on, you know we ae going to concede the midfield and a couple of goals to the opposition.

This attitude that it's OK to hang on to mediocre players like Smallbone and McCarthy for as long as they want to stay here is the reason why this club has gone backwards.

I think that’s harsh.

He was good for us last season.

Shouldn’t be forgotten how key his goal against West Brom in the play-offs and his assist at Wembley was.

I’m not exactly saying he’s prime Zidane, but he’s a decent Championship midfielder. Alongside Downes and Shea Charles, he would be fine next season.

Absolutely, he should be more than capable of doing a job for us next season. But there are levels in sport and perhaps the championship is where he belongs

And that attitude is why we won't win the Championship. Accept a bunch of mediocre players because they are 'good enough' for the Championship rather than putting together a team that is better than the rest of the Championship and is going all out to win it. Our standards have fallen too low.

Apart from a song Aribo has given us nothing, he's far too one footed to be a central midfielder and certainly not a CB, Mr Juric!
However maybe the one one Juric did get right was the need for Smallbone to develop physically, he's far too easily dispossessed. Although that seems to be a theme throughout the side particularly up front.

I would love to believe we could move smallbone on and replace him with someone better who will improve the team, the reality is I have absolutely no confidence in this mob being capable of making that happen.
Do you think otherwise then Dirk? Be honest.

No, Sport Republic's recruitment doesn't seem to be about building a winning team; it's more about recruiting youngsters for their potential resale value. Meanwhile, any random bunch of 11 players can take to the pitch. Having cheap 'squad fillers' like Smallbone to make up the numbers suits them.

The parachute payments + transfer fees from player sales = job done.

I wasn’t saying Aribo was the answer more that as much as he has his faults he gives us more than Smallbone
Equally it wa sa crazy sub as Sulemana was the only one bar Fernendes trying to get us forward

Whilst we will always be grateful for his goal and assist in play-offs, the reality is he is just not good enough even at Championship level, especially over 46 games.

This is time for Saints to move on and rebuild, and get rid of a lot of the average players we have on the books.

Smallbone is a terrible player. Bringing him and Stewart on were really poor decisions by the management. We instantly became worse.

I don’t want Smallbone in our Championship squad. In my opinion, he is lazy, can’t tackle, gives the ball away a lot.
