Best Player That Each Club Has Produced 19:56 - Apr 16 with 4313 viewsBrianMcCarthy

Has to have come through their youth team(s) and broken into their first team.

Rangers - Gerry Francis?
Arsenal - Liam Brady?
West Ham - Bobby Moore?
etc

If Jude Bellingham isn't the answer for Birmingham City yet, he will be. But he probably is.

So. My first post was a pun. But Georgie was a most astonishing footballer. But Manchester United; they produced half a team of astonishing footballers in one year, and the first name that springs to mind from that bunch is Scholes.

George Best won the European Footballer of the Year (Ballon D'Or) aged 22 1/2, also English Footballer of the Year the same season.

Only (fat) Ronaldo won the Ballon younger, along with Messi who was a few months younger than Best the first time he won it.

Remember, too, that Best won it ahead of his teammates Charlton and Law, both outstanding footballers who had also won the award previously.

As for Scholes, he was a very fine player in his own right, but he was never even nominated for the award, never mind a contender, despite playing in a Champions League-winning side.

Dwight Yorke - Aston Villa

Dwight Yorke was class, obviously, but in my lifetime I’ve always thought Villa were excellent at churning out consistent 6/10 Gabby Agbonlahor / Gareth Barry type players but never really produced a superstar.

I know they were huge at one point winning the EC but as close to modern sleeping giants as you can get for me.

Trevor Francis would be a contender there

Let’s face it, no-one even wants to even mention the North Battersea Nazis, let alone have to spend several minutes thinking about all the utterc*nts who have played for them, so let’s get it over and done with early by nominating Super Ray and never thinking about them again.
