Off-season Business 13:25 - Apr 19 with 10191 viewsDylanP

With this season winding down and is mathematically safe and also mathematically incapable of reaching the Play Offs, the mind naturally wanders to what are the absolute musts this off-season. I'll start:

1. Sign Marti up for the rest of the decade

2. Sign Jimmy Dunne up for the rest of the century

3. Sign Ronnie Edwards on a permanent deal

4. Sign two of the following three (minimum) on permanent deal: Yang, Dembele, and Saito

5 Bring Charlie Kelman back from Leiyton Orient to challenge Frey up front, get rid of Celar

What else?

I hope we have an inkling of anyone leaving/staying by Saturday as it would be nice to give them a send off.

Paal isn’t signing a new contract.

It's funny this, and reading it all though I find I'm contradicting myself quite a bit.
I know it's all about opinions and we are all entitled to one.
I'm in the camp that thinks those that go to games have a more valid opinion than those that don't, and I guess the more games you go to, the more valid your opinion - at least when it comes to rating players.

I go to as many home games as I can and a couple of aways and I find myself agreeing, disagreeing, getting annoyed, and ready to shoot down any opinions I don't agree with.

At the end of the day, I don't think any on here really know what's going on behind the scenes (contract wise, in training, how happy the camp is, whether player x is good in the dressing room etc). Which makes me think, as long as the Head coach has input to who stays, who goes and who we sign then we should be comfortable with that, assuming we rate the head coach, and I believe a strong majority on here do. But who the hell knows?

A couple of my own thoughts based on what I've seen:

JCS is a fantastic player but given how unreliable he is injury wise, I'd be tempted to cut.

Celar - I'd definitely hold onto. I know he underperformed right up until Cardiff, but for me he's shown enough to suggest he can be good at this level.

Edwards - would love him to stay but I believe there is zero chance of that.

Colback - I'd keep for another season assuming contract details are acceptable.

Jimmy Dunne - keep but get another RB in as well, so Jimmy can cover CB)

I'm looking forward to Larkeche returning - think he could make it at this level.

And, as at least one other on here has said, I'd keep Paal too. He doesn't often let us down.

Cue the pile on :)

Yep, me too. I’ll never forget the last game of the season Hasselbaink was in charge when we had no idea that we were seeing Ale Faurlin and Clint Hill for the last time in the final home game and were deprived of the chance to really show our appreciation.
Realistically though, I guess we’re unlikely to find out until after the season’s over.

Same with Yohann Barbet under Warbs
