If it's on a Honda, it is a well-known fault but a easy fix. The way I've done it, is to remove the trim which houses the unit, unclip the connectors and take the whole thing out. Spray the connectors and inside the barrel of the unit with WD40 and replace. Job done. No idea why this fault persists, as Honda have known about it for years and they use the same part across the range. Edit - sorry, was typing before I read the model.
