At least she's still alive, though at 71 her cut-off short days might be (ahem) behind her? My vote goes to John Wick, that should sort out any negotiations with the council over ownership of the ground.

Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 11:36 - Jun 30 with 1535 views | SparkfilmsTV | I did wonder if the Ipswich Town association had been arranged by the current owner or with the prospective new owners....either way, l suppose Colchester United is back in the shop window with some kind of price tag.
Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 16:22 - Jun 30 with 1427 views | burnsieespana | Personally I am not sorry and Robbie had to.me demonstrated his commitment to the club and desire it will succeed. The Ipswich connection is interesting but maybe they have contributed a decent pot of money towards the pitch renovation which considerably helps our finances.

I wonder whether not having the ground as part of the deal was an issue? Obviously, not much we could do about that.

Was the Tiptree training facility part of the deal? That seems to me to be the only asset that might permit RC to recover some of his loans, that is if it is developed for housing. If not, what tangible assets are actually up for sale? The club doesn’t own the stadium. If no tangible property is included, Colchester United assets are then limited to goodwill and the intellectual property rights around its branding and its EFL membership. Players are of limited value as they are all on short term contracts and can walk away on contract expiry. They might even be able to walk away on conclusion of a sale if the existing contractual relationships are affected by new ownership. There is considerable debt to the current owner. Does that get written off? My guess is that the parties might be far apart on valuation if the trading accounts are as bad as suggested in another thread. I was skeptical from the outset that any sale would proceed. Where RC goes with this now is anybodies guess. But if he loses more money and ultimately ceases ploughing money into the club, begs the question, are we doomed. I fear the worst. Maybe we should merge with Ipswich Women and let them take over the stadium rent and running costs. Or maybe that step has already happened?
Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 10:22 - Jul 1 with 1219 views | RSCOSWORTH | Listened to Robbie on BBC Essex this morning. Typical prickly start and he's not got any more charming but spoke a lot of sense and gave a bit of clarity on the situation and future plans. He was never going to go into much in the way of details but he did give the impression that whatever decision he makes going forward it'll be the best one for the club.

Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 09:10 - Jul 8 with 822 views | SparkfilmsTV | Correction to my previous post....perhaps should have read 'some of the details'....a few more snippets have come to light. I don't know for sure if what l have heard is factually correct as it has come from several sources. Suffice to say that the sale of Colchester United Football Club does not appear to be straightforward in any way. It has the appearance of a large pizza cut into many slices...the most mouth watering chunks of the thing may not be on the menu. This could all develop into a very complex saga and it would appear the clock is ticking to resolve matters.... I don't see a quick fix to this.

"The clock is ticking but you don't see a quick fix". From what you've heard should we be worried a promotion push might be derailed by financial problems in the coming season?

A promotion push should be very much on the agenda despite the player budget. I think everyone at the club will be even more focused on achieving a very long overdue step back to Division 1 level. It might raise the profile of the club and increase its value to any potential buyers out there. Colchester United has never actively been on the 'market' going into a new season ( as far as l am aware ). I would go as far to say that if promotion isn't achieved this season then Danny and Nicky Cowley might feel they have failed despite the circumstances. We have achieved promotions in the past with virtually no excess budget for players. At least l know this as a fact as l was personally involved. 'UP THE U'S!'

“The most mouth watering chunk is not on the menu……”? The only tangible asset of note is possibly the Tiptree Training Ground (but who owns it?). What else is there other than the brand, goodwill, EFL membership and players on short term contracts? Given the prospective buyers are property developers, one suspects this might be a major consideration. A few hundred new houses built there might be the only way for RC to exit without writing off many more £millions. I hope he doesn’t get so frustrated he simply ditches the club and walks away to become a property developer himself.

Hello Phil, didn't get the chance to speak on Monday evening in that reduced form of a 20 / 20....6.3 overs for the Bishops Stortford openers to smash the 77 Colchester managed. I'm sure you are aware that two Colchester players will be at Lords with the England squad this week for practice sessions. Daniel mentioned it to me while fielding on the boundary. That's definitely a first for the club! No Daniel and Simon for Saturday but l am still optimistic of Colchester winning the Hambo Premier. The two Wanstead matches may decide this. Daniel Gladwin and Simon Fernandes are the two Colchester players who will be with England for the test match against India for those unfamiliar with the Colchester player's names. Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 15:11 - Jul 10 with 416 views | noah4x4 | We are drifting off topic, but reassuringly, Simon Fernandes and Dan Gladwell are on Saturday's CEECC team sheet. They are at Lords today, not Saturday. However, CEECC will almost certainly lose Simon to Essex CCC during the Hundred, which is great for him, but not good for the Essex Premier League. Charlie Allison is another Colchester absentee. Wanstead will similarly lose Robin Das. It is too expensive for otherwise amateur clubs (and too late) to bring in an 'Overseas' replacement. The Hundred has negative ramifications for Essex Cricket and its senior Premier League clubs despite the County not having a franchise team.

Advanced Talks with US Consortium on 19:18 - Jul 17 with 150 views | SparkfilmsTV | I've had communication ( of sorts ) from Tim Foley of Lightwell Development over in New York. Not quite sure how this has come about. It may just be some Google link as l looked into Lightwell's / Tim Foley's back story ( as l"m sure others would have done ). Anyway, I've asked a question to Lightwell and should l get a reply that can be shared then l may be able to enlighten folk on how things may stand. I did email them on the Lightwell Sports Group website some time ago but had no response. This whole takeover thing is a bit of a mystery still and some folk think there might still be further activity with the consortium. And while I"m about it, the accounts for Colchester United Hospitality Limited are worth taking a look at over on Companies House. It's a little confusing putting the bits together and l wonder if Lightwell looked deeply into all of the accounting over the past five years in particular which is under different limited companies and is of concern. Many English football clubs outsource their entire hospitality business and l wonder if a future owner might take that path.

Update on this - the information which relates to property development is from the same Tim Foley of Lightwell Development but there is no mention of his company as such. I'm still reading through it all. The Ipswich link is very interesting. There was a bit more to it and it went further than their sides playing at The Jobserve!
