Josh Tymon 16:19 - May 7 with 1240 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | Created 81 chances this season. Only one player in the entire league created more. Only 7 assists though. Clear we need a striker who can get on the end of and finish his crosses that has to be a priority.

Josh Tymon on 18:51 - May 7 with 1087 views | Dr_Winston | What is the definition of "chance" in this context? Open goal? 18 yard box? Slightly too high cross that you can get a head on but not direct? Some xG nonsense? This is my problem with some of these stats that get passed around. On the face of it it's an impressive number, but it doesn't actually tell you anything. Just like Matt Grimes and his "87% completed passes in the final third". [Post edited 7 May 18:52]

Not sure what the criteria is but whatever it is he’s still created more chances than 99.9% of players in this league and that fundamentally should be a good thing.

Not necessarily. He may be one of the highest individuals, but if you have 9 other outfield players who create nothing your team statistics would still be low in comparison. Better to have 4 or 5 players who can create 3 chances each than one player who can create 4

Yes in theory, but you only have to watch us once to see we don’t play everything through our left back.

Not really. Without context as to what constitutes a "chance" it's fairly meaningless information. It doesn't even tell you who these "chances" were for. Is an overhit cross a chance for the strikers or the other wide player coming in? Tug one thread and the whole thing falls apart. Actually watching the games we played from August to late February led many people to believe, with accuracy, that we were creating little for our attacking players to work with. The upturn in entertainment on offer from almost the second Williams was booted out the door tells the same story. I'm past the point of understanding how anyone could have witnessed the sea change in our style of play since then and still push the idea that our attacking players were at fault when Williams was here. If whatever the criteria is, if it is applied consistently in recording the data, he is still the second highest creator in the division. No too bad considering we were playing most of the game piddling about in our own half with LW in charge

With a more forward thinking mindset I think both Tymon and Key will thrive. With the new players coming in I think we have cause for serious optimism.

I don’t doubt we create more now, in fact it’s obvious, but a full back doesn’t become one of the most prolific chance creators in a season over the space of 13 games. I’m not sure what constitutes a created chance either, but I’d put good money Tymon would have more if Vipotnik knew where and when to make runs. It’s no surprise to me that our three signings so far are attacking players. I’d imagine centre forward is high on the agenda.
