Wildly optimistic take that, Esox.
Celar has been nothing short of abysmal bar a 20-25 minute spell v Cardiff and a 5 minute one v Watford.
Lloyd is nowhere near Championship standard - he is improving and may get there (certainly far, far better towards the end of the season), but really could do with a season long loan.
Kolli is an utter enigma. Flashes of great play, flashes of petulance, significant time way out of games, perpetually injured / ignored for big parts of the season and a short purple patch.
Frey is simply not fit enough to be relied on and no indication that will improve.
Kelman is the quandry. Play like we did throughout the majority of the season and like Celar and Kolli he will get battered by the big, mean Centre Defenders that live in the Championship. But he has proven that he can score. Maybe a change of style to better accommodate the "baller" 10s we have might benefit him and Celar?
So, optimistically we'll be OK, but it is such a stretch. Being frank, none of them feel like the answer right now. |
My point was that if we can keep them all fit and available we will have a better season than we experienced this year. It would also enable a stability with players getting to know each others game and not having it disrupted with non contact injuries. Just my opinion, but I didn't think we stunk the place out in many games but the players dropping like flies most of the season and the increasingly toxic situation between MC and CN created by the Ben Williams scenario meant that the occasional real highs were unsustainable. |  |

We know it’s an attritional league and extremely physical.
We have a bunch of small people who are also prone to injuries already.

How about looking for someone big, strong and capable of playing 90 mins across 40 games without getting booked and sent off/suspended for ill discipline ? There have been times this season when I’d have taken Dom Ball back if he was 5 years younger and that Ratter Scowen.
What’s that ? Jimmy Dunne could be an option you say ?

They have big, mean defenders in League 1 too. Kelman's built like a cast-iron fire hydrant these days. Beaten for skill maybe, but he's unlikely to be pushed around. He deserves a good few months to prove himself at the very least.
