Michi Frey contract ✅ on 08:23 - May 17 with 1704 views | Watford_Ranger | Always seems poor away from home and usually seems good at home. An odd player. I like him as I like all big ugly footballers you’d want next to you in a scrap. With him signed up, Kelman, Celar and Kolli (hopefully Lloyd loaned somewhere) it feels like something has to give. Dillon too is 19 so you’d think a loan if he’s not expected to play some part.
Michi Frey contract ✅ on 08:40 - May 17 with 1617 views | ArcticHoop | Keep Frey is a good news. I really like him. If he can get few more games next season surely he hit double figures. What comes to Celar i think it might be best to part ways with him and hoping we get back at least close what we paid for him. If it´s true that he don´t like to play for the club, then leave. Of course then we need another striker and it´s easier said than done, but if Eze being sold this summer, it will give us chance to sign another striker. Of course we have to made decision regarding Kelman too. Must give him a real oppotunity to show what he can do, if he can´t make it at this level, then sell him january

Agree Watford. He’s a different style of forward, bit if the old style #9 if you like - physical, unsettling and battler. He will start a few games against the right teams and certainly be on the bench to come on later and rattle tired centre backs. Will give us options.

I like him as an option and in this nonsense five subs era there’s a place for that in the squad for sure. He’s been born into the wrong era. Made for old school 4-4-2.

Would love to see him have a full season up top with Kolli, with hopefully Kelman, Celar and Lloyd as back up. So much better watching a Rangers side having a striker that don’t mind putting it about a bit

All seems good on paper in the off season, but really - unless Kelman can translate his form into the level above (and we even keep him), you could look at it like this: Celar - hamstring blown, looked like a fish out of water bar 1 game in 22 Kelman - unproven in the Champ Kolli - lots of potential, but injury prone and is he really a striker? Frey - is what he is, when he is available Lloyd - honest trier, but surely limited at this stage Hardly got the opposition managers rearranging their defences in panic, has it? A hell of a lot relies on Kelman (i) staying and (ii) coming good. Seems a bit optimistic to me. We've got to buy a striker, and a good one. Chances of that = slim.

If we continue to play 4-2-3-1, do we really need another striker? To go with the 5 we have? If you bring in another, who goes? And if you want one who is v likely to hit double figures, as a minimum, how much are we prepared to pay?

Michi Frey contract ✅ on 10:06 - May 17 with 1330 views | bosh67 | QPR CEO Christian Nourry said: “Michi has demonstrated this season that he is more than a handful for Championship defences. Particularly when he's on the pitch. When he first arrived I was told that he was one half of a Right Said Fred tribute act but we have been keen to keep him even though he's too sexy for his shirt. He is a player with immense determination and an infectious drive, the latter of which our medical team are constantly monitoring, but we appreciate all his efforts so far even though some of his on field decision making can, at times, be deeply dippy."

I think we really need a big powerful striker who can hold the ball up and feed the likes of Celar, Kelman and Kolli possibly, with Frey his back up. Frey probably isn't going to be available all the time, and without him we don't have that big hold-up striker we need.

Michi Frey contract ✅ on 11:05 - May 17 with 1136 views | davman | I love the guy, but he cannot be relied on to be available. FIVE ninety minutes this season I think I heard from Clive and three of those he was unavailable for the next game. That is not good enough for a main striker. FORTY appearances in a season and a half is more than I thought, but still only around 60% of the games we have played since he got here. Then add in to this that this has been triggered, which may well mean that the club had no say and, if the rumours are true, might mean an increase in wages as per the deals that bought Anderson and Frey here. Now if THAT is the case, I'd be quite scared. ...but as always I doubt that anyone posts here (apart from these new ones who seem to only post up propaganda) has a clue what the terms are, so on a playing level I am happy, on a fitness / availability level I am scared and who knows what I think about value for money...

There were certainly plenty of matches in the first half of the season where it looked like he didn't want to be here!

5 strikers already and Cian Dillon in the background with a similar(ish) get in among 'em style of play as Frey, so I don't think a striker will be at the forefront of the must haves. We have more than enough midfielders of all the required skillsets and we could possibly start the season with 4 goalkeepers and a worthy handful of defenders. Something we are glaringly missing is someone/ a team to keep them all fit and available to play. The Ben Williams situation is a joke.

Michi Frey contract ✅ on 22:46 - May 16 by Northernr | Frey as your third striker in an effective group of four is a really good option. Frey as your first striker in a group of one is a problem, as we've seen this season. |
As you say, from a squad perspective, if he’s planned as a 4th choice, horses for courses striker for Tuesday nights in Stoke in February then it’s a sensible extension, if they intend him to play regularly it’s a concern. On a financial perspective again, if it’s a negotiated deal then fine, but if as the article suggests they’ve just extended his current deal for another year then it’s *another* player alongside Cook and JCS earning big money and you’d not expect to play that often.

Frey's inability to win the out-ball from the defence in the air is for me a significant weakness in the options as to how we play, Even the best teams who play out from the back or have midfielders who can play on the half turn and play forward passes need this option, we need it more that most.
Michi Frey contract ✅ on 12:29 - May 17 with 820 views | bosh67 | I think next season depends on whether Celar is fully fit again. He certainly deserves a chance to either prove the latter Celar we saw for a few games before the injury is the real version or whether he fades again. If we get the Cardiff, Watford Celar then he has to be given a chance again. So you have potentially Kelman Celar Frey (possibly Kolli) and you need another seasoned striker bought in to step up at this level. Coming through you have potentially young players like Vale, Kolli, Bennie and Morgan (even Murphy), who are all able to play as attacking midfielders. Madsen also started to show he is much more comfortable further up the pitch. I agree I think Lloyd should go out on loan to get game time and see how he does. There is something there. Macaulay Langstaff struggled in his first season at Millwall and they bought him for £400k. I hear they may move him on at 28. As Gallen says a striker is a striker at any level so do we cover the £400k Millwall laid out for him and take that risk? Perhaps at another club he ignites again. Who knows. Or do you look at Josh Windass if Weds don't renew his contract? Great player for them and knows this level inside out.

Great point. I actually think a few of our strikers would benefit from 4-4-2, def Celar and prob Kelman. Anyone else sick of one up top, ie 4-2-3-1? I miss the days of the big man / little man combo, and wingers swinging crosses into them. Perhaps I'm wrong but we did play 4-4-2 in our final game? Seemed to suit us...even Madsen in a midfield two (mind blown Emoji) What formation do the Dev team play? 100% is a bold statement given that we had that same forward line this year, with one of them on loan all year, most of the others unavailable half the time and still stayed up

Whilst i agree it could be better, i also don't see how it 'gets us relegated, 100%'. As it stands, it's an improvement on this years forward line. Unless we somehow pull an experienced goalscoring Championship forward out of the hat, then anyone we add with the intention of scoring goals, will have 'limited experience at this level'. We're adding our very own EFL experienced L1 goal machine to the mix, whose been on our books for 5 yrs, time to back him. As it would be no different to us bringing in a Kone or Godden and hoping they bag 10-15. Fair enough if we find a forward with goalscoring championship experience on our budget, but i just don't see it.

Wildly optimistic take that, Esox. Celar has been nothing short of abysmal bar a 20-25 minute spell v Cardiff and a 5 minute one v Watford. Lloyd is nowhere near Championship standard - he is improving and may get there (certainly far, far better towards the end of the season), but really could do with a season long loan. Kolli is an utter enigma. Flashes of great play, flashes of petulance, significant time way out of games, perpetually injured / ignored for big parts of the season and a short purple patch. Frey is simply not fit enough to be relied on and no indication that will improve. Kelman is the quandry. Play like we did throughout the majority of the season and like Celar and Kolli he will get battered by the big, mean Centre Defenders that live in the Championship. But he has proven that he can score. Maybe a change of style to better accommodate the "baller" 10s we have might benefit him and Celar? So, optimistically we'll be OK, but it is such a stretch. Being frank, none of them feel like the answer right now.
