Pre-season 13:49 - May 17 with 33482 viewsderbyhoop

Are we bothering this year?
Who would be responsible for organising it? Where, how many games, against who?

Monsieur Montpellier R,

By chance, did you enquire if they have corporate boxes that can accommodate five, preferably with AC?

On the offy of it says:

Jake Clarke-Salter, Alfie Lloyd, Rayan Kolli, Nicolas Madsen and Michael Frey will not be involved this weekend, however.
Clarke-Salter and Lloyd are continuing their rehabs as they recover from complex surgeries during 2024/25. The pair are anticipated to return in the early stages of the 2025/26 campaign, subject to their current rehab progressions.
Kolli had an extended 2024/25 campaign due to his involvement in the semi-final of the Premier League Cup. Following his close season, the club are carefully managing his training load as part of an individual programme as he works towards match fitness.
Madsen and Frey picked up minor knocks during training. They are anticipated to return to full training during pre-season preparations.

JCS has been in some of the training pics but I don't think he's playing in full on training games.

Good start. Lloyd, Kolli and Frey all missing the first game. Plus ça change, plus la même chose.

London World write up included this gem of journalism...

"QPR put five goals past League One outfit Stevenage in promising pre-season action over the weekend with one player in particular catching the eye.

The R’s fielded a different side in each half and ran out convincing winners thanks to a hat-trick from Kader Dembele alongside goals from Ilias Chair, Taylor Richards and Harvey Vale."

So thats 6 goals in a 5-0 win - impressive.

Glass-Salter needs to find another profession, his body clearly isn't cut out for top level professional sport.

He's still recovering from his surgery last season, it's not a new injury is it?

Hopefully following this and under the watchful eye of Ben Williams we can get him back to 23-24 availability and form. We're a better team with him in it

I'm jumping the gun a bit here, but I was speaking with Montpellier R earlier, and I am sure he will correct if I've missed anything. However, he has been in touch with the local tourist office and they said that there remains a query about the pitch's suitability!

Now, this is France and joined up thinking is generally beyond them, but worth having at the back of our minds.

As an example of local French joined up thinking, I have two friends coming out for the game. On the day they are flying back to the UK, Le Tour rolls into town, so we won't be able to get the PlanetMobile out from our car park to take them to the airport. There's an airport bus so I went to the transport office to inquire if it will run and if so, where from?

I managed to convey that 'je ne sais pas' is not as helpful an answer as they may think. Accordingly, two of them embarked on the challenge of solving the riddle that a few hundred people may soon face. 30 seconds later their two shrugs indicated the challenge was beyond them and the time it might take to crack the Da Vinci code might impinge on their impending lunch!

Biquet Plage about 10 km up the coast from the stade is well worth a trip for food and drinks for those heading that way in cars. 👍🏼

If Chair had passed to Dembele in the opening stages instead of shooting from an acute angle then that could have been the case.

I didn't say it was did I?

I'm just stating the fact that the blokes's body can't seem to stand up to playing 30 games of pro football a season let alone 40. And let's not get too carried away with 23/34, he only made 29 starts!

I know, it just feels like that "late notice from the organisers, late decision by the French police, out of our control..." thing is coming doesn't it? Hope not, there's a dozen going from the Crown.

Starts or minutes, Camberley ?

You never know this season.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

I'm hoping they are just asking for interest so they can configure ground or something but it is a bit of a red flag 😬
