Friendly v Stevenage Borough, Noon KO local time. Pinatar Arena.

Look for hotels around Pilar de la Horadada, they are close to the venue such as Playa de la Torre Derribada or even closer Playa de las Higuericas. Playa de El Mojón Is potentially walking distance.

Torrevieja Is about 95 kms away for a more lively time.

Plenty of bars about but not Costa Del Sol, Benidorm stuff. Safe for families for sure and a very low crime rate. It’s an expensive time of year, but there are plenty of bargains even then compared to the UK.

Please add your suggestions but keep them relevant and best from experience or recommendation.

You are welcome to canvas people on here who are going for flights times, locations etc. And arrange travel. 👍

Hi All I have been asked to drop this info on this thread. I hope you find this info useful. So a lively place you can look to stay is Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Villamartin plenty of bars and restaurants and will be lively in July, these areas are about 15mins drive max to the San Pedro piñatar arena
Alicante airport to these areas about 45 mins, Murcia is about 35 mins. Plenty of air B&B’s. hotels are available also. La zenia hotel is right on the beach, campamoar hotel is on a golf course and a 5 min walk to the La Fuente area of bars and restaurants, and 15 mins walk to Villamartin plaza, lots of teams stay here for pre season as they have excellent training facilities , don’t know if the team will stay here as it’s a lot closer than La finca golf resort last time they were out here, or they may stay down in La Manga. Hope it helps. If you need to know anything more drop a message

Thanks for the info - how about getting to the ground from La zenia? I tried to find buses but it seems you have to go via Alicante which is a bit nuts !

Stayed in Los Alcazeres in October 2023. Enjoyed it very picturesque by the Mar Menor. Preferred eating and drinking on the front and old town rather than the 525 strip

Stayed many times very near to La Zenia in a little place called Playa Flamenca.

Not bustling with hotels but plenty of private apartments available to rent, some with communal pools which are well kept.

Enough going on (lovely beach, bars/restaurants/mini golf/go-karts) etc for a family break. If you like a good walk you can also walk along the coast into the more lively area of Torrevieja. Lots of nice golf courses in the area too if you like a knock. Can fly to Murcia or Alicante airports.

So a little more info, Murcia flights are only easy jet from Bristol, Alicante flights are Vueling and Ryanair from Cardiff and easy jet and Ryanair from Bristol.
If you want to hire a car, try going through a website called Do you Spain, I have used these for 6 years before I bought a car in Spain. More choice of car hire companies in Alicante airport than n,urcia as it’s a lot busier I have tended to use Goldcar, Record, firefly, with no real issues a long as you just check the car over before you leave the airport, if you book with free cancellation keep checking the prices as they really do drop, so just cancel and rebook I have had cars for less than €10 for a week. As previous posters have said, playa flamenca, la zenia, and Cabo roig are all off the N332 Road which runs all the way down the coast, and the ground is literally 8 miles from La zenia and straight down the N332, more than happy to help anyone who has any questions.

Is there a bus service from Murcia airport to San Pedro?

Hi. There are bus services but they will be limited as Murcia airport is a quiet airport, compared to Alicante. Best option would be a taxi, websites say it’s about €40. If you can get a bus it would be via Vente de La Vigen which would be the 72B then change to to the 70A, 70B or 70C to Pilar de Horadada. Pilar is about a 2 mile north of San Pedro so hopefully the bus will pass San Pedro if not Pilar is a nice busy town which should have plenty of taxi’s.
If anyone is staying close to Pilar, and you like meat and sea food then go to El Gallego huge meat portions you won’t go hungry. 😋

Thanks very much I checked sun transfers and they came back 146 euros return.
I’ll chance my arm at the airport taxi rank
