Was becoming more and more obvious when there was nothing made of his retirement at the last home league game and then the playoff.
Whilst some on here told us all point blank he was retiring end of this season to pursue his 'business interest'..... or maybe not, I did mention it at the time 👍
In footballing terms it’s great news. Maintain he’s a better player now than he was a decade ago, even if he can’t play every week.
His movement as a centre forward is on a par with Steve Taylor as the best I’ve seen at the club. His ability to occupy defenders up there with COG and Holt despite being smaller in stature. At times last season he was playing way above this level without even touching the ball.
I just wonder if he’s got Gary Jones’s appearance record in his sights as motivation? Still a class act at this level as he proved in the last few months of the season.
Great news....always gives the best. Did really well latterly in the season when he was finally on the pitch where he belongs.....
Retension of quality going well so far....still need another goal scorer and a very strong defensive monster or two.
I am hoping Big Jim is going all out with the released list and the incomings.
I am sorry but if we have any aspiration to get promoted Kairo Mitchell has to be let go and we need a Paul Mullin / Paddy Madden Type.. Been there done that.. real handful and 25+ goals a season. (Not the easiest to find I understand that).
Then we need that tenacious ratter in Midfield..
Plus a no nonsense beast at centre half like Oldham's Manny Monthe..
To finish with our own keeper. One with a proven reputation and ideally football league experience.
This is a huge summer window for Dale.. Hopefully one that will showcase our ambitions.

He was very clear himself that that would be his plan when he hosted the dinner last Oct/Nov. He talked about his focus on new business ventures (including building a hotel) and that he wouldn't go into management. Maybe he has surprised himself with his performances over the second half of the season. He is certainly fit enough.
