Is the club locked into playing 4-2-3-1? 13:41 - May 23 with 855 views | paddyhdog | Some other threads have touched on this, but would to dig deeper, apologies if done so already (couldn't find one) I've read about the club putting in place a common system from youth to adult teams. Makes sense, especially an ethos and way of playing. But does it also lock us into playing 4-2-3-1 all the time? Putting aside my personal hatred of a single person upfront and no wingers, there's 3 reasons I think this is nuts... 1) You're reliant on a position you can't afford. A striker who is big, holds it up, has pace, can finish. There are none, and if there are we can't afford them. Look at the problems Man U are having. 2) It's predictable - makes it easy for the opposition. Whereas if you mix it up you can surprise them, as I think we did vs Sunderland last game 3) You don't maximise the players you have at that time. As WWC said we have no fullbacks so maybe look at 3-5-2 3)

Is the club locked into playing 4-2-3-1? on 15:02 - May 23 with 785 views | daveB | I think/hope the club are locked in on a style of play rather than what tactics we have to play. Any manager/coach is going to want to switch things if needed A lot of the talk from clubs about philosophy etc is all a load of old clap trap really just soundbites and they'd change it all in a second if they thought it would bring sucsess
Is the club locked into playing 4-2-3-1? on 15:29 - May 23 with 746 views | Tonto | Thanks for posting this as I was thinking something similar. Especially after listening to the patreon review. It does feel like several.of our players are square pegs being played in round holes. Celar is the most obvious. If we want one up top, that isnt him. Or Kelman's, or Kollis or Lloyds and only partially Frey's best postion either. So why did we buy Celar? If we wanted 4 at the back, why did we only have 1 left back. Where does Harvey Vale fit into this? Or Harrison Ashby? If the recruitment is on a backroom team, does the back room team set the formation? In which case shouldnt our recruitment reflect that? Or was this Marti being pragmatic and just seeking not to concede first to keep us in The game? I also wonder whether with our personnel whether a 3, 4, 2, 1 (or 1,2) would be a better fit? Have wing backs as the width. Kolli and chair buzzing around Celar/Kelman or Frey (assuming we dont buy anyone btter of course) would be better? [Post edited 23 May 15:31]

funnily enough was talking about this to somebody recently , who actually come up with this masterplan ? nourry marti ? hoos ? ruben ? it seems mad that a style of play has been decided at board level by somebody im sirry to says never been involved in running a football club before , maybe that tyle of play works for him on fifa and he just likes it ?

In fairness to Celar, or any of our strikers will struggle if the midfield is unable to pass a ball bloody forward. Personally all the talk of formations and tactics is a bit of a smokescreen to distract from the uncomfortable truth that we don't have a creative central midfield. Fix that and goals will follow.
Is the club locked into playing 4-2-3-1? on 17:42 - May 23 with 560 views | ed_83 | Except if you play three at the back and two up top, where do Chair / Dembele / any of our other midget 10s go? We've clearly been better playing 433 than 4231 recently, but we never stick with it because it doesn't suit our creative players. Whatever formation we choose, we'll keep running into trouble because there isn't any setup which suits all of our players: either because they haven't been recruited with a shared approach in mind, or because they're just not very good, so we have to shift everyone else around to compensate for their flaws.
Is the club locked into playing 4-2-3-1? on 18:39 - May 23 with 456 views | DavieQPR | If you watch Frey is almost midfield at times. He receives the ball from the DMs and plays the ball out wide. Then turns to get in the box usually not alone. The system is a very flexible 4-2-3-1.

We did that by looking at the last 10 years of the Championship and what won you points and what allowed you sustainability to bring in 16 to 24-year-old players who could play well in the system, develop and be the best players they could possibly be." Per https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/qpr-chief-executive-nourry-we-will-stick-wi So, decided based on data and without regard to squad, opposition, league place or whether we have a fitness team working credibly with the players.
