Liverpool on 22:28 - May 28 by majorraglan | If you look at other serious high profile cases you’ll see that the police regularly go for an extension and of detention from the Courts. PACE only allows for a suspect to be held in Custody for up to 24 hours without being Charged or unless a Superintendent authorises an extension of up to 12 hours taking it to 36 hours, if they want to go beyond that it’s down to a court and the Crown has to justify the application. If one of the reasons the suspect was arrested was because of unfitness, then the police have to wait until that person is ft for interview etc before they can deal with him, if the guy was only slightly pver they won’t have to wait long, if he was very heavily under the influence they could have to wait a long time. The police also have to allow for an 8 hour period of rest in a 24 hour period. Having regard to the above and the scale of the enquiry it’s clear that it’s going to take a long time. The people online spouting that the police need more time to be able to get their story straight are absolute morons who know nothing. We’ll get our answers in de course. |
Sensible post. I assume if he's medically unfit anything he says is of little use when it comes to putting a case together.

Well said major. The police get criticised for taking too long and the same people would criticise them even more (deservedly then) if they rushed and got it wrong. Just let them get on with their job

The question for the police (and possibly council) at the moment is could anything have been done to stop the car getting into the street in the first instance. If someone was on guard duty and the car just went through against orders then there is not a lot that could have been done but if it wasn't cordoned off properly or there was no one there then lessons need to be learned for the future. Yes, the police do get far to much criticism at the moment they are asking people not to speculate on social media, yet the Daily Mail have given out information stating everything about the suspect bar naming him. How can they get away with it

Liverpool on 13:57 - May 29 with 1007 views | trampie | Crikey on the Liverpool drugs front, just seen a report from last week on the person that found James Bulger up there, died after a night in a police cell, drugs again. . Sometihing needs to be done about drugs in Liverpool, apparently there is something called 'county lines' where Liverpool gangs are shipping drugs to the rest of the UK, police up there need to get their act together.

Yep. And twitter is being its predictable cesspit, trying to stir up trouble by making stuff up.

Liverpool has a major drug problem, its no good people burying their head in the sand, it needs sorting out, it's starting to impact the rest of the UK via county lines. I've no issue with Scousers , Scouse not English is what they say, they boo God save the King/Queen, its a left wing area, not many of them left in the UK. There are lots of things to like there but also lots of things not to like and the drug thing up there seems to be getting worse.

You have a major problem Wales has a significant drug issue However , being the snidely narrow minded bigot that you are , you look to the major English cities as a comparison to make you feel better To draw in Bulger proves your lack of perception and self awareness

The story was in the Liverpool Echo, another drug story, Liverpool is a cesspit of drugs, if people living up that neck of the woods like you can't see it then there is no hope for the place in getting it sorted.

So does it mean he has not be charged with attempted murder and not be charged with driving under the influence ?

The current charges. Two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm Two counts of causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm Two counts of attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm One count of dangerous driving. The CPS said the charges would be kept "under review as the investigation progresses".

I thought that he was originally held on suspicion of multiple attempted murders and driving under the influence of drugs ?, isn't that what was reported as said by the Merseyside police ?

That doesn't look good on the police force up there if that is the case, telling the public and press he was held on suspicion of this and that and then not charging him for those things.

The decision on Charge is a matter for the CPS, they will review the evidence and decide from there. It may be the case that some of the evidence (for example blood sample) isn’t back from the lab hence no Charge.

Liverpool has a major problem with County Lines, but so does London, Birmingham and Wolverhampton. I’ve just googled Swansea and County Lines and the “hits”” all related to London gangs.
