I know, it's days like this that even grown men fighting with machetes on the Harrow Rd become hum drum.
Saw a scrap on the Horra Road across from the Co-Op only the other day. Some geezer is whacking another with a strip of what looked like wooden flooring in the late afternoon sunshine until they were eventually separated by others. This was taking place in front of what seemed to be a shop front renovation. The whacker was a young fit bloke. The whacked had a few years on him with a pot belly and a bag of shopping in one hand. The older bloke was very vocal - shouting at the young bloke in Hindi or Urdu - people were managing to separate them but the young bloke broke through and gave the mouthy older bloke a few clouts. He held on to his shopping but it shut him up. What gave it a sense of peril was it was all taking place near an impromptu trestle-table with a circular saw clamped to it. In the Tarantino version someone woukd have lost a few fingers or a perhaps an ear. I was nearby queueing at a cash point. When the fella at the ATM had finished I asked the old lady in front of me if she was in the queue.“ No darling” she replied, “I’m just watching the entertainment”.

Monday. TT over here. Police pull a biker over, he escapes their clutches, overtook me through Kirk Michael (for those who know the course) at 100mph, road busy, narrow, 2 way traffic, parked cars etc. Got just outside the village, clipped a van, went into the bank. I was 3rd car there, police with him, I didn't look, figured he'd had it. In court on wednesday, sustained 'minor injuries'. Lucky, lucky bastard. Thankfully.

Record for that game, but not a fifth tier Wembley fixture. 100,000 at the Hendon v Wealdstone final in '66.
Edit. Though for the first time ever I looked up that game on the Hendon FC website and it states 45,000. I'll not take a Wealdstone fans tale as gospel anymore!
