We Love QPR and give best reasons why 20:08 - Jun 1 with 3017 viewshoops_legend

Hey all, just wanted to start a nice thread about QPR and why we love them so much

I am proud of the club and am always happy I support them above those who choose an easy option and support teams that always win and are always disappointed when they lose. So why do we love qpr… please give 1-5!reasons and let’s see why they are so special

1) QPR have the best kit - I don’t care what they say and perhaps it’s a reason why we don’t win (it’s been well documented teams in red usually win) but I think the blue and white hoops are classic

2) loftus road is one of few old school stadiums which fully understands proper football and never fails to delivery

3) I don’t think other clubs at our level can claim to have talents like we have in the past. I would have stan Bowles, adel Taarabt and Ebere Eze any day

4) we don’t always win … infact we rarely win and when we do - it always feels special! Yes it makes me miserable most wins when we don’t but when we do win - it’s great

5) don’t want to be a suck up but Northern R aka Clive. No other team can claim to have such a nut who writes absolute classics on their team week in and week out. Honestly I prefer read his write ups better than the highlights

Come on what are your thoughts

Started going 1975. Greatest team the World has ever seen. Hooked forever.

Yeah that was me. My uncle to blame, i was more into cricket, couldn't understand what all the fuss was about 're football. Then, he took me to my first game at Loftus Rd; that 75-6 team blew my mind and I got it. Ok, born Hammersmith, so that's partly it, was incarcerated (sic) in Lincolnshire for many years, so that's something. Pining for the fjords etc. Then, always hated Chelsea, Arsenal.etc, for reasons unknown. But there's something about this club that's entwined with my poor soul forever.

The guy in South Africa Road who shouts 'Come on Rangers, they're sh*t', regardless of who we're playing, a few minutes in, then gets a round of applause.

He needs to change his chant replacing the word "they're" with "we're" .....

My local team and my Dad supported us so i didn't have a lot of choice in the matter. No real regrets though.

In 50 years of going to Loftus Road, that Sansom goal is probably the one that sticks out the most for me. It was just perfect. I was standing in the Loft for that game. Great, great memories and as you say, it was absolutely pouring down, but it didn't matter.

Also agree re the Dunne goal against Birmingham. I'd put Charlie Austin's late (offside) header against West Brom a few years ago up there too.

For me the main reason for supporitng QPR is cos my Dad and his Dad supported them, as they lived in Shepherd's Bush. I go with my daughter now so she's 4th generation and I love the fact that she loves it even though we've been largely cr*p since I've been taking her

The goal by Dunne in last minute, NewYork, yes what a moment...

Was memorable because not only was it an absolute worldie, won the game in the last minute and was scored by a newly developing club legend, who simply had never scored a goal of such supreme quality before but it had seemed like an absolute eternity since we had managed a home win as we were nosediving at break neck speed towards an humiliating relegation campaign.

The goal changed everything !!

But script writers would not have chosen this as it was too outlandish to be considered as true....

I don't know exactly when I started supporting but my Park Drive Book of Football 1967-68 has a wonderful colour photo (two actually) and therefore it had to be the kit.
Secondly Rodney of course.
The 66-67 season 103 goals scored and the League Cup
Slightly exotic name 'Queen's Park Rangers from an equally exotic sounding place 'Shepherd's Bush' (well it was to an impressionable 9 year old!). Took me ages in the local library finding out where we were (do you know how many towns and cities have districts called 'Queen's Park'?)
Then the folklore - Nomadic club, record number of grounds but not actually played in Queen's Park itself.
The rest is history!

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean we're not all against you.

1. I grew up locally (Stamford Brook, then Shepherds Bush), as did both parents so it was a logical move. Thankfully I didn't turn out a scum fan like my uncle (who tbf worshipped Greaves when he was a boy)

2. my grandad was a QPR fan, my Dad too who was at Wembley in '67, took me and my brother to LR for the first time around '84-'85 when I was 5-6

3. I loved the players at that time (Bannister, Byrne, Fenwick - who as an impressionable 6-7 y/o was great to see at the WC alongside Robson, Lineker, Barnes etc)

4. the adidas x Guinness kits looked so good!

5. the plastic pitch, sh!t but different to everyone else at that time (bar LooTown)

And I believe Preston and Oldham also had plastic pitches around the same time. We were the first though with the famous (dreadful) Omniturf.

I played on Luton's plastic pitch once* - it was absolutely horrific, and certainly not becoming for someone of my exquisite ball skills

*Reason number 449 to hate Luton
