It seems that West Brom have offered him a contract and are about to sign him as he is out of contract.

But the media in Birmingham are saying we are trying to hijack the deal, given is value is only about £2 million I would not bother, keep, Armstrong, Stewart & Cameron Archer.

Funnily enough, I have also seen Shankland linked with Rangers.

I don't know how damaged Armstrong and Archer (and also Brereton) will be by last season.

Taking a major chance relying on the fitness of Stewart.

Still, it seems Onuachu may finally be on his way, so it does free up funds for another striker.

If valued at only £2m the SR will probably go for him and say how they are investing in and strengthening the squad
But is he any good or better than the names you have mentioned?

Armstrong is a busted flush...he's not happy here , unless Still is desperate for him to stay I reckon he'll be off .

Stewart ...honestly you would trust him not to get injured again?? Ontop of the fact we've hardly seen him play much.

Archer.mmm , possibly keep, not bothered too much as he looks a poor footballer, but he's got a turn of pace and can finish.

Josh Sargeant yes please, Joel Piroe yes please. ..

Is Armstrong a busted flush or was he like several others just a victim of two managers who were running their own agendas.

Two years ago people were clamouring to sell Armstrong after a poor couple of seasons in the Premier League in terms of goals scored, but he was the best striker in the Championship for us with 21 goals and 13 assists, he had more goal involvements than anyone else.

Stewart, had mainly been fit for the last 4 months of the season and played a part in all of the last 8 Premier League games, he was superb against Arsenal and showed he can create space and finish chances

We shall see how he fares in pre season.

Archer needs to ball played to his feet and he can finish, playing the balls into the channels wasn't the style of Russell Martin or Juric, so he was wasted,

Perhaps under Still all three can flourish, it would certainly save us a few bob.

Josh Sargent at Norwich has scored goals but only around 15 a season max

Piroe, scored 19 for Leeds last season so a decent return, however 4 of them were against a Stoke side who conceded 6, could be worth a punt, but will Leeds keep him

I like Sargent; though he has been linked with following Farke to Leeds.

Keep forgetting we've got Breraton Diaz as well.
After a decent start on loan at Sheff Utd he fizzled out and was benched.

Similar to all our other strikers..potentially they could be great for us but serious question marks against them all...Diaz particularly looked absolutely awful for us and really terrible footballer.

It's virtually impossible for a striker to look good inn a team that refuses to get the ball up the pitch quickly.
You soon tire of making runs and the ball never arrives, or you hold it up but there's no one around you. I was no fan of Che Adams but he made plenty of runs and no one ever gave him the ball.
Stewart could be great but are we going to gamble on his fitness again? ?
Archer is a mystery. Maybe the Championship will be his level.
Armstrong does at least have a good record, but he didn't do well at West Brom. I'd suggest Still is going to have to do some serious thinking here.

The only thing Armstrong is a victim of, is being allowed to play in the premiership when he is clearly not good enough. Time for a new start if anyone in the championship can match his wages.

Prem Stats
Adam Armstrong Played 88 goals 6

I can remember a couple years ago when Sulemana scored twice against Liverpool in a meaningless end of season game you told us that didnt count. So in a similar vain Stewart looking good against an Arsenal dosent mean squat. His career stats tell you hes a league one striker bar one little lip 3 years ago.

I think that's a bot unfair Lol, as he was stuck out on the wing when I saw him, which didn't seem the best way to use him?

I do agree with Nick on this one, in fairness.

Armstrong did a great job in our promotion season, and is clearly committed to Saints.

I am concerned that the side may be a little short on experience, and he provides that for us.

I would be loath to let him go unless he demanded a transfer, which would surprise me.

Sargeant got 15 in 32 games .24/25
The season previous to this he got 16 in 26.

Mins per goal he is the best in the Championship.

Whats going to motivate him to do well? If we go up he will instantly be canned.

I would get rid of as many as possible of our current strikers and bring in Ayoub El Kaabi. Because of his age, he wouldn't be expensive, but he'd score a lot more goals than anybody we currently have in our squad.

You could say that about that about virtually any player in the Championship nowadays.

There are very few players in the Championship who are good enough for the Premier League nowadays. Even from the squads of the 3 teams that went up and came straight back down again this year, only a handful of players will be picked up by Premier League clubs and even they may not be good enough to be first team regulars.

This is probably the strongest Premier League and weakest Championship there has ever been, because any half-decent players are already in the inflated squads of Premier League teams. Hence the massive gap. Of course, this also means that the gap between League One and the Championship has narrowed so much that promoted teams from League One may go straight up to the Premier League the following season.

It tells you just how weak the Championship is that a team that finished bottom of the Premier League with a record number of defeats are the bookies' favourites to win it.
