Delivery Drivers 14:28 - Jun 10 with 2777 views | ActonExile | Just had DPD make a delivery to my house. The driver rang the door bell, waited about a second and put the parcel on the doorstep. Then, took a photo of the house next door, got in his van and left. I then got a message from DPD saying you parcel has been left at number so and so with Richard. Two things, 1) There is no Richard at that number, 2) The parcel was left on my own doorstep, Luckily our street has a Whatsapp group, so i put out a message and the lady across the road confirmed the parcel was still on my own doorstep and took it in for safe keeping.

I did it briefly for some pocket money last summer. Couldn’t hack it and only made £150 over a month. Cost me that in petrol and the damage potholes did to my vehicle. Cutting corners makes quicker deliveries and saves drivers money. Monkeys / peanuts etc. [Post edited 10 Jun 14:34]

Delivery Drivers on 20:38 - Jun 10 with 1926 views | Hayesender | Had a delivery left somewhere obscure last year. Couldn't make head nor tail of where the picture was taken, but looked everywhere. Not behind bins, not under the car, not thrown over the side gate into the garden. No effing idea where this parcel had been left. Got in touch with the sender. They were very helpful and sent out another item. Couple of days later, next door moved his van off of his drive and low and behold, there was said parcel. So I ended up with two Ben Sherman polo's for the price of one 😊. Do we have a new manager yet?

Delivery Drivers on 21:55 - Jun 10 with 1786 views | LazyFan | I waited outside my door once, down the road. DPD driver drives down the road and then begins to turn out of my road and away. I ran after him flagged him down, he stops, I get my parcel and he did not even bother with "I was gonna turn around and call you". We both knew the score, he couldn't be fecked. This is actually an improvement on 50% of the time as somehow my place is always last on the route and as result if there are any issues, does not get delivered that day. It has happen before its failed for 3 days. Its getting better as we can track em, but really its not helpful to the customer.

Don't want to be "that guy" but I've seen people doing their deliveries in their own cars with parcels all over the seats etc... Even if they are insured, if they are using the vehicle for business then they might not actually be insured. Their policy might just be for social and domestic, which covers commuting to work, but not actually using the car for work. If you had a crash with one of these professional drivers I bet 1000% that Direct Line, or whoever would invalidate their insurance if they got a sniff that they were working with their car.

Just rang my insurer and they updated it to commercial use. They (the companies) do check apparently, but it's true their business model relies on offsetting all legal responsibility and risk. It's very much a scam. [Post edited 13 Jun 16:53]
