Good game and Senegal overall have been quite a bit sharper and better but at least it is an open game.
I love Kyle Walker for his time here but his legs have gone completely. He plays like your grandad.
Lee Dixon annoyingly being the archetypal "Where's the bloke love?" about the female referee which is incredibly annoying.
Eze doing well but they need to get him actually into the game attacking.

Senegal's movement was great. They were up for it.
England were not as Tuchel was clearly experimenting and finding out who can cut it or not. Obviously, Bellingham, Rice, Saka, Kane etc are in, I am talking about the fringe players.

Eze (tactically wise should have been subbed for Tony, but was playing so well Tuchel kept him on)
Madueke (Tried him on the right, not as good as on the left, but still good enough)
Gibbs-White (Brought the energy that Gallagher lacked, but was responsible for the 2nd goal. Let off as he only just got into the game)
Konsa (Chalobah made him look good and has not let England down)

When you play Eze as your main forward, you are experimenting.
What we also learned is Tuchel has the idea that someone will play behind Kane. He tried Eze for this game; it sort of worked, but due to Gallagher playing so badly (constantly out of position, being bypassed for the majority of the game, Senegal ghosted past him all the time) Eze never saw enough of the ball. Rice was on his own in the middle. You saw the difference when Gibbs-White came on. We also know that the Kane+Eze combo could work, as when Gallagher did get into the game, England scored. But that was a literal one-off.
The whole game was an experiment by the manager and good one.
We need to know who can cut it or not and Senegal played great which helped us find out. |  |

couldnt watch 90mins of this after andorra debacle. from the bits i saw senegal were big strong physical, wasted time every chance, the ref let em do it and they thrived. they hit us quick on the break, we looked slow, tired, not wanting it , poor atmosphere . if players wanted a holiday dont join squad .
thought we had 2-2, was it handball? did senegal defender not nudge our player off balance thereby causing ball to arm!?
thought madueke and eze are luxury players who like to do tricks rather than pass ball or release sooner rather do their box of tricks. ok if 3-0 up but chasing a game with limited time? no. friendly or not, england should not lose this but did, well done senegal, did their job, did we? |  | | |

long term what happened in the last few games won't matter too much, we had similar games under Southgate and he then put it together for the big games.

Its early days Dave, with Tuchel, but yes its a slightly less than inspiring start.
Eze though seems to be a player in Tuchels mind and I think has been one of the better performers in a non functioning squad currently.
International football tends to be tedious on the whole anyhow and not just ourselves. |  |
