I’m sure being a number of years younger than some on here would mean if I was about in the mid sixties the skinhead ska that came off the Windrush would be far more appealing.
However, he no doubt contributed much to music of the time along with the rest of his boys. RIP.
MC5 anyone ?
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Keith you need to understand many of us were brought up with a beach culture and it's where we spent most of our time. The whole surf vibe, music, fashion and culture was where we were in the 60s/70s and in our head never left.

They arrived (BB) at a time of music change, the style was different and like stated fitted in with a breath of fresh air that was beginning to blow at that time. Just a look at the playlist will show how busy and exceptional they were.

Many many years ago when I was about 12 back in the late 1970’s, my mate was a huge Quo fan and we were down in his parents gaff listening to music and drinking home brew when his old man came in and had a whinge about the “dirge” we were listening to. It turns out m6 mates dad had been an engineer building power stations in the Caribbean back in the 60’s and during his time out there he amassed a pretty decent collection of Caribbean sounds, SKA, Calypso and other stuff. I’d never heard anything of the sort before and was blown away tbh, but my mate hated it. I’ve retained a liking for that type of music ever since and often wondered what happened to the record collection.

We used to have an open roof Land Rover for dads business and he let me go down to Langland with it and hang out with the surfers Didn't have a radio in it but Beach Boys California Girls was always in my head Had a girfriend called Wendy too, another beautiful song wish I could post paste on my mobile Great days of a wonderful era in my life in a great town

I remember cycling down to Rhossili with my trusty transistor radio taped to my handle bars with an abiding memory of two songs one ones Mungo Jerrys in the Summertime and the second much more appropriate played because I imagine it was the summer time the Beach Boys Surfing USA. A long joyful summer in which I tasted the first steps to independence and with it many happy memories .

Most defiantly, we maybe called the baby boomers and so what but the music which was created during my youth has never imo been surpassed . When you look at todays music there are now no longer mainstream bands and the singles market is full of non musical non talent . We also grew up in a period in which there were many fashion trends ,now adays I dress like my grandkids and they like me , I remember the teddy boys , mods & rockers, hippies skinheads ,suede heads ( my favourite ) and punk of course all of which influenced me in some way.
