Anyone used them or using them? one of the nursing assistants who call here has lost a load of weight along with her husband.

I've started cutting back mon to fri, but I relax a little on the weekend, don't overdue the booze just 3/4 bottles, I do have a few glasses of Red.

I've no intention of doing the jabs though not at my age I just don't trust them

I was 11st 8 lbs for a few years. I had an office job.. In 2009 Banking crisis I lost my job and took a temporary free lance job on the railway.

This was out doors and involved walking 5-7 km a day up and down embankments and cuttings.

With in weeks I was 10st 3 lbs. A decent breakfast fruit for lunch and no puddings. I now vary between 10st 2lb and 10 at 7lb. If I go above that I make adjustments Involving cutting bread and dairy. I now walk about 2-3 km every day.

Some quacks on YouTube say exercise does not affect weight. I have proven to myself it does. Also when I walk a lot I lose my appetite and eat less.

I could get to below 10st at will by fasting and eating no carbohydrates..

Ketosis probably works. I may even be in ketosis without realising it. This is a diet higher in fat and lower in carbs. Energy burned is fat not carbohydrates

People need to understand: there’s no magic pill for losing weight and keeping it off. It’s simple — if you go back to old habits, you’ll go back to old results. It’s not rocket science, it’s just reality.

The only real, sustainable way to get healthy (and stay that way) is to change your lifestyle. And honestly, one of the easiest places to start is by just getting out there and walking. If walking isn’t giving you the results you want, then walk further. Keep increasing your distance and effort — your body will respond. Pair that with drinking plenty of water every day, and you’ll already be on the path to significant weight loss.

Now add to that the 80/20 rule when it comes to food — eat well and nourish your body 80% of the time, and enjoy yourself (within reason) for the other 20%. That balance makes the changes sustainable, not miserable.

Want to speed things up? Try intermittent fasting — I highly recommend it. It's not easy at first, because it requires the right mindset, but the benefits can be amazing. Just make sure you're mentally prepared, because it’s not a shortcut — it’s a commitment.

If you want to take it a step further and build shape and tone, then yes — hit the gym. It doesn’t have to be hardcore. Just consistent. Trust me: once you get into the rhythm, the natural high you get is better than any drug.

Now, as for medications like Monjaro or Ozempic — I’d be cautious. Sure, the results can be dramatic and fast, but they’re rarely sustainable. The moment you stop, unless you’ve built good habits alongside it, the weight tends to come back fast — often worse than before. Plus, there are mounting reports of unpleasant side effects.

At the end of the day, it's your body and your decision. All I’d say is: don’t be lazy about it. Do your research, ask questions, and think long-term. Quick fixes rarely stick — natural, consistent effort always does.

Just my tuppence worth.

Credit where its due. That is a good post.
