Rumour Mill on 12:03 - Jun 27 by TalkingSutty | I think attitudes and mindset needs to change and that specifically applies to the manager. I'm not even sure if winning football matches is his priority over improving players on the training ground and being best mates with everybody. Is there anybody in the club who he is answerable to and does he have regular performance reviews with the Directors, maybe every fortnight? I'm assuming with the staff restructure that does now happen. |
Would think that definitely happens looking at Cameron Ogden’s interview. https://rochdaleafc.co.uk/summerupdatecameronogden110625/ “ A fourth-placed finish is an excellent result and an FA Trophy semi-final to boot. Inevitably, when you come so close to even greater success, the satisfaction is tempered – especially given how close we were to winning both of those key games.” That’s a fair assessment, with an acknowledgement about how we fell short at the important moments.

Yes, it seems Cameron knows what success looks like and he expects a improvement. We should have won both the Gateshead and Souhend games. [Post edited 27 Jun 12:39]

Rumour Mill on 09:57 - Jun 27 by TalkingSutty | I hope you're right, Jim being here until the end of the season will probably mean another play off finish. There has to be improvement though and using other clubs resources as a reason to fail needs to stop, nearly every manager in the country could cite that as a excuse. McNulty needs to improve his performance also because he was exposed tactically on too many occasions last season with team selection, in play decisions and substitutions. Even more so when up against the better teams in this league and in pivotal games. The stats home and away against all the teams who finished in the top six positions make very grim reading and reflect badly on the mindset of both the players and the manager. It points to a lack of belief, a lack of bravery, a negative approach and that played out big time at various stages of the Spennymoor and Southend games. A fragility and negative vibe which was often transmitted from the manager on to the pitch and it spread like wildfire. Substitutions should impact the team in a positive way, unfortunately a lot of Jim's seemed to have the opposite effect and only served to energise the opposition. Will he learn? Good post Sutty, just like most posts on the subject, I don't think that he can/will learn, to me Big Jim seems blinkered, his way or the high way, his recent interview like many before was a car crash an ideal oppertunity to rally the troops for the coming season, sadly missed, I'm thinking whist I type, sorry I'm going off track but it's been said previously he's attracting the types of players who are passive, meek and mild natured, the types of personalities I wouldn't want in the trenches with me unless it carrying water or running errands, he seems to recruit players who readily accept his personal take on the game and won't/don't challenge him, players who he can easily befriend, for me he doesn't have any credit tokens left in the Bank should he single headedly lose us an important game like he did against Southend then that'll surely be the beginning of Big Jim's demise !

No point in not supporting him or wanting him to fail, when we attend games we want to see the team win. I want to see us start the season positively with a team that won't roll over when the going gets tough. A team with a few real leaders in it. A manager who isn't interested in respecting the point against part time opponents or inferior teams. A manager who stops trying to fanny the paying public when his team have played crap and holds his hand up when he's thrown the game away with his poor tactical decisions and substitutions. In other words let's have some honesty instead of treating people like idiots. If we can see all of that and we finish in the play offs then that will be progression. McNulty and his team need to stop rolling over and having their bellies tickled everytime they meet a decent team, thats what they did last season and the manager readily accepted it as though it was normal. He waved the white flag twice in home games against Barnet and York with over 20 minutes left to play. The Ogden family and Directors can't find that acceptable from the manager at non league level and it sets a bad example to the players. You get sick of him talking our opponents up also, i had to check we were playing Hartlepool and not Real Madrid after listening to him a couple of months ago. [Post edited 27 Jun 13:37]
