I looked him up too ironically His dad very very wealthy which seems the case with many players It's almost disappointing to see tennis still driven by well off parents I loved the game , growing up It's really tough to play well

So you disagree with my statement I stand by every word Historically , not a working class game in Wales or GB even though most folk have held a tennis racquet She's 66k richer anyway Thanks

Depends how you see my reply. I have no knowledge of the answer to the questioned I asked. Hence me posting it on here. Yes, there is an air of entitlement to the sport. But my question was merely to see if anyone knew.

I don't see it as entitlement I see it as a " class" issue Rather like golf It's not easy to join a golf or tennis club of significance Both sports need professional coaching to play the game properly Why does this country not go into council estates and promote the games Answer is because both " classes" mistrust each other This underpins everything on this country It's why the term posh is a pejorative Imagine someone from Portmead being called posh or a snob ?

Sports like golf and tennis tend to be more "elitist" because to be successful you need one to one coaching which is expensive. Team sports are less expensive because of group coaching. That's my opinion anyway.

Well yes but fact remains there seems little interest in both in " poor" areas The potential talent is there and it's a shocking waste of Tennis far more mainstream in many parts of Europe Actually , thinking of it, few of our " poorer" areas sees swimmers coming from them Is it because golf , tennis and swimming are highly technical and require relentless practice and patience Football can be a very quick way to become super rich relatively soon in life

I’m not sure, but judging by her interview, she sounded more Home Counties than Swansea and if I had to guess, I’d say she’s had some media training. She came across very well. Either way, it was great to see her representing us.

I would say there is no class barrier in Swimming, the only barrier is if parents are able/prepared to take their children training 9/10/11 times a week, often at 5.30 in the morning.

Well there you are How many " from deprived areas" are prepared to do that when many can't be arsed to cook a basic meal for their kids Sadly, shockingly, nutirician itself seems class cloyed Look around your average holiday flight and see the results of tardiness and lack of personal pride It seems football alone is the only sport that matters Hence the view that tennis, golf , cricket are posh , which they aren't really

Sort of off topic on 00:59 - Jul 4 with 387 views | Robbie | My local swimming pool has been demolished , probably houses will be built there as an alternative , NPTC though more money should be making Aberavon seafront prettier . Both my children learned a valuable lesson on how to swim from an early age and hope in a time of distress that skill will come to the fore . Tennis / Golf sorry but really not for me , still classed as elitist in my view .
