Tall Paul fee instalments taking the proverbial 14:35 - Jul 5 with 2048 viewsInTimeAddedOn

According to insidefutbol.com Trabzonspor have reported to the Turkish stock market that the fee paid for Tall Paul was €5.67m and they are paying it in 4 separate instalments! FFS, that’s taking the p@ss isn’t it? For a start, that’s only £4.9m or a fraction under… That means we get just over £1.2m now and with WS admitting in The Echo today that we need to sell first before making any more additions to the squad what use is £1.2m?? We all know the way buying Clubs do their business, they will fart-arse around until deadline day or the day before if you are lucky and then try some take the p@ss offer as we were relegated. At least we usually stand firm for a proper offer.
Add to that the future hassle getting the instalments paid on time, Trabzonspor (don’t give a toss if that’s spelt wrong) have previous for pi@@ing clubs around with late instalment payments so good luck getting the money in!! All in all another brilliant SR deal….

If it’s true then nobody will be in the least surprised at the outcome.

Probably better to have keep him and given him a go in The Championship.

Mind you, that would be far too simple a solution for Sports Republics spreadsheet doughnuts to comprehend.

Poll: Where will we finish in the upcoming season?

There was always something about Tall Paul’s transfer and the club statement that Nick pointed out that this transfer want as simple as others.

Due to our financial situation it’s not surprising we have to sell before we can buy. We would probably need to recoup most of last summers outlay before we can spend .

The big problem, unlike last time Dragan got us relegated, we haven’t got a lot of players that others sides would be willing to splash out on.

We are going to have to take a hit on a number of players we want to offload, simply because we paid over the odds, for many of them over the last 2 years or so.

I am not convinced many other clubs would have come in for Tall Pall and paid much more. Dealing with Turkish clubs is well know (not just Trabzonspor). None of them have the money to match their aspirations, hence they just take the p***. Many of the players they sign are rarely good enough for premier league, hence they can prey on clubs poor signing decisions to pursue a bargain.

I can't think of any player that has been signed in the Turkish top league that I thought we should have gone after. I am sure someone will enlighten me.

It’s fairly normal for transfer payments to be spread into installments, it’s just not widely known and clubs rarely disclose the exact financial details of a transfer, so we get 4 installments for Tall Paul and then we buy another player and pay it in installments, so it equals itself out.

Sport Republic can never win, they splays out on players and get accused of paying over the odds, they stand firm last year on selling Tall Paul and they get slagged off for not selling him, they take the money this year and they get slagged off for taking it in installments.

Personally this saga needs to come to an end, his goal scoring record is not great, we have better forwards t the club already and we need to cut our losses and get something back on him.

I agree, it’s fairly normal for players to be paid for in instalments, in fact, probably common practice. My original point (perhaps not explained too well) was that after three transfer windows of haggling we end up with a disappointing result. The amount of time and effort that must have been wasted dealing with these people in Turkey for what was ultimately achieved is unbelievable, and I agree 100%, now it’s done let’s move on.

SR most certainly can win, you won’t hear me criticising them for holding out for the best deal either by refusing to sell Tall Paul last summer as the offers were derisory, or for refusing to be bullied by the likes of Liverpool over Lavia where they were trying to get him in at about £20m less that Chelsea paid until they panicked at the last minute and made a reasonable offer.

SR can also win by doing the right thing in this transfer window, good quality Championship players don’t need to cost £20m a pop so they can win by investing in players with proven ability at this level that can do a job for us that might be the difference between a very successful season to come or one just treading water. I will admit that I do have some trust issues with SR because of their performance to date, however, I am more than happy to give praise where it is due, such as holding out for top dollar on players being sold whenever they can. Perhaps Tall Paul had to be the exception to the rule…
