£2 billion for an accidental security breach. 33,000 and their "family members".

My neighbour works in social services. She tells me the Afghans had a lot of trouble getting their family over. Their wive(s) and children. Did you notice the plural. It is actually supposed to be illegal over here.

We cannot run a welfare state with open borders.

Afghans fought with the Soviet Union against the Mujahideen, I guess the Soviets weren't paying them but the Afghan state was, we was paying them, perhaps if the Taliban paid them more than us then perhaps they would have fought for the Taliban against us.

I wouldnt fight for an invader against my country even if they offered me money, by the sound of it you would ?

Lots of countries have the death penalty for treason, our country used to execute traitors and that was on the statute book until relatively recently.

There may have been a few who fought for Russia but generally speaking the fought against them AND the Russian controlled puppet goverment.

The Taliban can be traced to the Madrasas of Pakistan and took the country by force, they were not wanted which was why the people fought against them

History shows us though, no foreign power has ever won in Afghanistan, the Taliban wouldn't win an open battle but as guerrilas they seem undefeatable.

Now the last bit, where have I ever said I would fight against my country? If my country was taken over by a dictatorship I would fight against that to free my country and return it to democracy..
It's just you being a keyboard warrior tho, isn't it

Under a pay wall but you get the drift.

This headline was always on its way. UK government is out manoeuvred time and time again. This is because they are not allowed to "discriminate".

I read it and it clearly says that leaked list was of people who had applied to come here, not a list of people who had supported our troops.

O'll say it again, anybody who supported our troops deserves our help. If we can trace people here who fought against us they should be removed.

It's simple enough to understand.

Here we are, this is what I had in mind:- Green on Blue attacks in Afghanistan.

What lies behind Afghanistan's insider attacks? - BBC News https://share.google/c3RsLesKo9851FOOn

They were taking our money and then turning their guns on our soldiers and killing them, not isolated, all the time.

Because I was aware of Green on Blue, I'm very wary of let people into the UK we don't know nothing about, back in the day we thought the people in our bases were on our side and then they turned their guns on us, they did it to British, French, Americans.

That Beeb article should be very concerning in light of the fact that our Government has secretly let in thousands of Afghan people in our country, they thought back in the day they were on our side but the reality was not all of them were and it cost British soldiers their lives, what do they think is different now I wonder ?, let's hope tour leaders have got it right this time and these people will be good citizens and a benefit to the UK.

If you read it all then you'd see that they said only a small number (10%) were thought to be insurgent based and the makority were caused by things like misunderstandings, percieved insukts like insulting the Koran and language mix ups. They didn't just attack British , French or US, they also turned guns on other Afghans.

Most of these attackers were shot and killed though.

Should we turn our back on everyone because of a few?

Put in another context, should we refuse aid to Gaza if we suspect it'll go to Hamas people too?

Initially 10% (which is huge) then revised to a massive 25%.

I have no objection to refuge but when it comes to UK refuge usually means citizenship and access to our gold plated benefits system.

You will be told refugees do not come for benefits but come here because they love the English language so much. Yeah right.

You can say 25% is masive but 2012 was the worst year for such attacks and the total nuber countrywide was 48 which means there were just 12 blue on green attacks. A high percentage but nor a high number. If that number were the average across the whole time there would be less than 1000 attacks in 20 years by insurgents. Not many people out of the 33k that applied to come here.

You may think it's a small number but I think it's a large number, I'm uneasy about it, the way it was kept a secret from Parliament as well as from the people it's as if they knew questions would be asked.

You would think it's a lot but lets put some context in here. Since 2005, Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza have launched over 20,000 rockets and mortars at Israel, carried out more than one hundred suicide bombings, and dug dozens of terror tunnels into Israeli communities—all at the expense of the people of Gaza.

These blue on green attacks are worrying yes, but they are not a major danger to the Uk and most of the people who carried them our were killed too. Those coming to the Uk will be a tiny number.

I agree that it should never have been kept secret, that was a massive mistake made probably by a person trying desperately to not be outed for being a total idiot. Obviously questions would be asked, even more questions are being asked now because of the secret.

Thing is, if these people attacked because of an iinsurgent link and you think we shouldn't let the others in even though they were most likely not involved, I guess you'd back the expulsion and refusal to let Shamima Begum back in too. She was a member of a terrorist group.

I accept your backtracking. No need to apologise it is a forum and I expect a bit of rough and tumble.

We are all in a constant state of trying to figure out the dynamics of these continuing poor performance by our representatives.

When the truth came out I posted it. You firsty claimed it was a civil servant but then accepted it was Marine (a grunt as you put it) so you have changed your opinion too.

None of us had the facts so it was about opinions and we were both wrong at times during the thread. I can accept I was wrong, can you?

Turns out then, I backtracked once but this is your second time this thread. No need to apologise, it is a forum and I expect a bit of rough and tumble.

"Leaders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have asked the Taliban for access to a leaked list of Afghans who helped Britain so they can hunt down MI6 spies.

The Tehran regime hopes to examine the list of nearly 25,000 Afghans who worked with British forces as they seek leverage with the West ahead of nuclear negotiations this autumn.

The so-called “kill list” contains the names of Afghans who were applying for asylum, including soldiers who had worked with the British Army, intelligence assets and special forces. Some are believed to have subsequently fled to Iran.

In a sign that the two sides are already collaborating, at least one Afghan whose name was allegedly on the list has been deported from Iran to Kabul in the past few days."

I accepted you comment in good faith and you comment a was false.

I simply f go back to the original default position. Civil servant usually do this stuff. I still wonder about whether the guy relieved of his duties and the British museum was ever charged after stuff went missing. Losing pension entitlements can be a big deterrent to f those mixing in the wrong company.
