When will managers learn that sitting back defending a 1-0 lead over a long time, more often than not, gives the win away.

Hope that lesson sinks in around our parish.

Seems there are a few links to the Rochdale and the Dale with this current squad of lionesses.
The most obvious being Kiera Walsh who is born and raised in Rochdale.

Then you have Ella Toone who is the other half of Joe Bunney and also Alex Greenwood who is Jack O'Connell's misses.

I watched the game and really enjoyed it. If we’re drawing comparisons to Dale, it was actually England that reminded me most of our play last season - lots of recycling possession, shifting the ball wide around the edge of the opposition box, then switching flanks in search of an opening, only to be met by a well-drilled defence. But, just like us at times last season, their persistence eventually paid off. I’m hoping with the new signings, it’ll pay off more often this season.

The key difference with Dale being: when it really mattered, when the crunch came - we failed. We're not talking tactics here, but bottle

Let's hope you're right about fresh faces in the squad, and on the touchline, making that difference

Agreed and unfortunately changing a squad's and management's mentality is a very difficult task.

In terms of breaking teams down I think Dieservwe will be a game changer. One of the biggest criticisms of McNulty from myself last season was his Plan A relied too heavily on the opposition allowing us space behind their defence to run into. As soon as the opposition, whether good or bad, denied us space we were absolutely toothless and ended up recyling possession constantly to try and create the perfect opening. I wouldn't fancy sitting in and defending my own box for 90 minutes if I was competing against Mani in the air.

Think every Dale fan accepts that not doing it when it mattered. But there was concern about the style of football possibly affecting the club’s progression with respect to entertainment, when in reality that’s not always an issue because it’s all about getting results - especially in the crunch games. We now need to do that.

Mani is a marque signing for us this Summer and he wouldn't have been cheap. It's the managers job now to get the best out of him and the key to that is to give him plenty of supply, and put in first time crosses. Progressing the ball into the final third and then looking to turn back and recycle the ball is the opposite of what's required. That would be negating the threat that Mani brings and would play into the hands of our opponents. I don't think McNulty has the appetite to move away from his cautious, possession based style of play but hopefully the two newly recruited coaches do and they will impose their ideas on the manager. Mani scored a great header against Grimsby from the only real chance created for him, that supply line needs to increase to get the best out of him because one or two chances a game isnt enough.

Last season we put loads of crosses in the box but there was no one to attack it, hopefully mani will solve this

Yes, i hope you're right. McNulty is also looking to bring in another forward, we have to increase the number of goals we score this season. When we take the lead we also need to continue to score another, we did the opposite last season in too many games and paid a heavy price for it. Let's aim to be the top goalscorers in the league, set the players a challenge that they can take into every game.
