Was told some quite negative stuff about his ability from a couple of football scouts and really want them to be wrong, the pace alone could be huge. We need this one to work. I'm starting Frey every second he is fit though.

If it is true, you could say he's had us over a Burrell.

Frey is a limited player but last year it was so evident when he wasn't up front. I think we definitely need another player like him who can fight and hold the ball up. I like the Burrell signing for his pace and pressing ability off the ball, but I don't imagine he'll be a number 9 for us, and I'm unsure about Ba in that role either. Nkada looked like an (expensive) option or we were linked with that Tovide kid too... I guess we'll see.

the pace alone could be huge - If that was true then the much maligned Sinclair Armstrong would be leading the line. If pace is all Burrell has, then he will cause problems for a few games, but he will be sussed by the first International break.

Who will spearhead our attack on Saturday Aug 9 ? on 14:59 - Jul 31 by EuroRanger | Surely it's Burrell this Saturday at least. Frey would be the likely option but since he's been unfit and missed all of preseason... I hope we have Ba / An Other through the door by then too. If Celar is staying then it wouldn't surprise me to see him, unfortunately... |
Excuse me for a couple of questions but: 1) Why does Frey seem to be injured all the time? What does he do that puts himself in this position? 2) Why did QPR even renew his contract?

1) I would assume it's the physicality. He's older and yet he still plays like an old-school bruiser of a CF so I imagine that takes it out of him. Still, you'd hope for more. 2) In the games he was fit for, he was a real presence that we've otherwise lacked up front. I doubt there was a queue of suitors so I imagine he's on a decently club-friendly deal, too. In a perfect world he'd be a number 2 or 3 who would split time behind a couple of other forwards IMO, but we've had horrendous depth up front for years now. I'm not sad about the extension but we're going to have to expect that we'll only get 20 games a season out of him, which is why we need at least one more striker signing and more if Celar is going (as per the rumours)

1) I don't think he is injury prone historically is he? 2) He was our top scorer and I think he will be again. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I reckon he probably would be were it not for the offer we received, yes.

Who will spearhead our attack on Saturday Aug 9 ? on 17:36 - Jul 31 by Third_Division_South | Strong rumours us and Swansea are in for Kone at Wycombe. Quoted fee of £5 M would seem too pricey for us though. |
That bloke by all accounts is a proper wrong un Hopefully we dont get him
