How could we use the loan system given our new "buy young, develop, sell high" 19:12 - Aug 3 with 1292 viewsnumptydumpty

We can loan up to five players at any given time, is my understanding.

Am assuming if we do loan a few in, it is likely to be near the end of the window.

Ie ideally we will be looking for cheap or free younger players with promise and the loans are if we are unable to purchase players in required positions so last minute loans.com....

Think it's a chance this time to loan in a bit of experience if necessary.

Last season Saito and Edwards were excellent uses of the loan system. Ashby less so amd I think Yang came in so we could flog a lot of merchandise at extortionate prices.....

Think Dembele was initially a loan also...

Wonder how we will use the loan system, this transfer window.

Might be able to bring in an experienced centre forward......

I reckon we'll try and foster some relationships with the 'big' clubs to try and get a few first refusals going forward. Wouldn't surprise me if over the course of the season, this window or Jan, we agree to a City, an Arsenal, a blue shite player on loan and they play a fair bit. Much like Yang did

Some of our better strikers in recent years have been loans. Wells, Austin, Gray even Hugill. There is this constant perception that loan in players block the pathway of our own players to the first team. This does not have to be the case. I felt Dykes played his best football for us under the tutelage of Austin. Morrison should have learned so much from Edwards and we will hopefully see the benefit of that this season. This season an experienced LB on loan would really bring our two vastly inexperienced LB's along. If Varane is fit I cannot see us signing another midfielder but again Hayden but be hugely beneficial to both Varane and Morgan in their development.

If as seems likely we bring Ba in, then I can't see us loaning another striker and we just have to hope that he, Burrell Celar and Frey have enough about them to hit 35- 40 goals between them - big ask I know

Re your four potential strikers, have you written off Kolli as a wide man or be will play no part.

I think he will be loaned/sold if we get another striker (Ba?) in
No way a lower Champ team keeping 5 strikers in their 1st team squad especially if they only play 1 up front. Could be Celar of course - one or the other.

Kolli At the Moment if fit and yes it’s unusual kolli is prob fourth maybe fifth choice striker behind
Frey if ever fit
Celar if he’s not sold
Ba if he ever find his passport
Burrell
He’s more chance if he can’t stay fit for more than two games of coming in as a ten or maybe left winger but that depends on his slightly suspect hamstrings but then he’s like to be behind smyth. Or poku Sutton and vale

so inquires allowing he’s not really gonna play that much in the coming weeks I’d say and yes he loves the club etc etc

Yeah, loans are great for filling gaps quickly without long-term commitment. I’d use them mainly to cover spots we couldn’t fill with buys, especially if a proven vet is available late in the window. Like you said, young talent on loan can also help development and boost squad depth. If there’s a chance to get an experienced striker on loan, that’d be smart—helps while we groom our own players for the future.
