Tovide? on 08:55 - Aug 6 with 1208 views | TheOldOakTree | I heard the medical didn’t go well. He threw himself to the floor and rolled about in agony when the doctor got within two feet of him.
Tovide? on 10:32 - Aug 6 with 1162 views | wessex_exile | The irony being that finally an official believes he's injured. As for whether he has or hasn't failed a medical, who knows - it could just be one person's uninformed speculation that's snowballed through repetition. No club is going to release details of a private medical, but the absence of an announcement presumably means the deal is off, or at least not on, for now. He can't be that injured, given he's featured quite recently in pre-season friendlies, but time will tell - possibly by Saturday at Oldham?

Ha ha! Nice one! | | | |
Tovide? on 11:06 - Aug 6 with 1122 views | TheOldOakTree | If he has failed a medical, I hope he goes on to emulate Asa Hartford, who was rejected in the 1970’s by high flying Dirty Leeds because their doctor said he had a hole in the heart. A condition so bad that he only managed a total of just over 800 professional games, including 50 for the Jocks and winning the League Cup with Man City. As far as I’m aware he’s still doing fine in his seventies. (The highpoint of his career was a runners-up medal in the 1971 Watneys Cup). Just goes to show, there’s no harm in a second opinion!

Tovide? on 06:54 - Aug 7 with 903 views | SparkfilmsTV | I'm not sure what the story is here but there is a suggestion that Tovide failed a medical and Luton Town reduced their offer accordingly that Colchester then rejected. Tovide to play at Oldham on Saturday?? Either way, we should get a grip on this saga later on today. [Post edited 7 Aug 6:56]

Tovide? on 17:59 - Aug 7 with 724 views | SparkfilmsTV | The structure of the deal? I thought that had been agreed over a week ago. More likely the structure changed as a result of the medical. As l understand it Luton Town reduced their offer by £250,000. Advance apologies if l have got this wrong. I would also like to know if Samson Tovide had a medical at another club recently. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'm not so certain on the medical rumour, I suspect that was just uninformed speculation - particularly if he trained today and is available for Saturday. Sounds to me more like Luton didn't want to agree the add-ons that reflected our confidence that's he's going to go on to much bigger and better things than Luton can offer. No matter, he's still our player and I'm happy with that. Considering how they mis-managed Joe Taylor so badly, I reckon Samson might have dodged a bullet not going to Luton. When he's in double figures by Christmas, he'll go for more and to a better club in January.

Tovide? on 22:06 - Aug 7 with 643 views | MarkyMark47 | Hope he starts on Saturday. It's obvious he's got talent, but due to his injuries he's yet to prove that he can be a consistent goal scorer over a whole season. He needs to be disciplined and avoid the histrionics that clearly irritate a lot of referees.

The injuries may well be key to Luton Town's decision. Colchester United would have handed over Samson's entire medical record / recovery period data which would have been scrutinised in detail. A footballer can 'fail' a "medical' before it has even taken place on data alone - this can also occur with family medical history. I remember seeing the medical files at Layer Road when we were filming one morning in 2007 - not that we opened any ...just a glimpse on a shelf. Football clubs can be super sensitive about anyone getting sight of this information but pending a transfer it has to be made available. Colchester United are putting a brave face on the breakdown in Tovide's transfer but it would have created essential cash flow. We need to see Samson Tovide start every league match from now until Christmas, score at least 10 goals and reset his value. A goal at Oldham would be a good start.
Tovide? on 07:02 - Aug 11 with 312 views | SparkfilmsTV | On the subject of medical records ( kind of ) l had a run through those of Will Goodwin. He is already ruled out with a 'muscle injury'. I doubt this will come as a surprise to Colchester United or Oxford United. Let's hope Goodwin makes a quick recovery because he is rated. As for Tovide - l did manage to look into this and discovered that there was something of a pact of silence from Matt Bloomfield etc at Luton concerning the matter. As far as l can ascertain the deal was off for at least three days before the news broke. The Cowley's are working flat out but they appear quite restricted in recruitment options.
