One in one out on 13:59 - Aug 7 with 577 views | Boundy | I'm crying ▪️ The UK pays all transport and admin costs, both directions. ▪️ France can veto any migrant we want to return, no reason required. ▪️ We can’t cross-check fingerprints of the ones they send, and they won’t run Eurodac checks for us. ▪️ We must process removals within 14 days of arrival or we lose the right to remove them. ▪️ Only around 50 migrants a week can be returned about 5% of weekly crossings. ▪️ Migrants can block their return using human rights appeals. ▪️ We can’t return those citing vague “public interest” concerns. ▪️ The UK MUST accept asylum seekers France chooses, with no independent vetting. Speaking about the first detentions, Sir Keir said: "If you break the law to enter this country, you will face being sent back. When I say I will stop at nothing to secure our borders, I mean it." Phew!

Someone should test that last statement by Kier by suggesting to him that the Navy sink the boats in the channel. I bet he'd stop at that. Vacuous nonsense from him as per.

Any scheme has to be better than the £400 million wasted on the all in, none out, Rwanda scheme.

Looks like the US may benefit from our investment. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/rwanda-agrees-to-accept-up-to-250-migrants- The UK's existing deal with France involves paying £480m over 3 years and we can now add the extra cost of "one-in, one-out". That is on top of around £300m paid under earlier deals. Personally I think Rwanda may have had more impact - as the RoI was finding out.

My post is justified then, 3/4 of a billion quid plus utterly wasted by consecutive Uk Governments that comes out of the public purse ie the taxpayer, its criminal.

It is one way. We have literally nothing to negotiate with. France have every single card and don't have to take a single migrant if they don't want to.

Rwanda claimed they could only take 1000 anyway. At the absolute minimum rate of the deal with France, Rwanda would have reached capacity within 6 months. The Rwanda scheme was a very, very, very expensive smoke screen.

Even after the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024? I think many would disagree. What legislation do you have in mind?
