Bluebirds to be overwhelmed at the JCS by rejuvenated U's 10:07 - Aug 23 with 939 viewsdurham_exile

An undeserved defeat to Cambridge on Tuesday night. DC described as them as one the best footballing teams in the league. Well, if that is truly the case then we don’t have much to worry about when considering promotion this season.

Cambridge were outplayed for long periods of the game. We managed to undo all our good work in a two-minute spell just before half time. They took their limited opportunities, we didn’t, simples.

Today Barrow are in Town and we must be looking to get back to winning ways. I predict a 3-0 home win with the outstanding Lisbie on the scoresheet.

Take the game to Andy Whing’s side and score early. We can put right the mistakes that were made on Tuesday night.

The recent serious ACL injury to Ben Perry has been a real loss to the team and adds to injuries to Ellis Iandolo and Goodwin plus long-term injury to Milton Oni.

DC still hasn’t worked out his best team.

Anderson I understand is fit which fills me with trepidation. He is so overrated by DC which I simply do not understand.

Go with the following this Saturday:

Macey

KVY Flanagan Tucker Powell

Edwards Bishop Payne Read

Tovide Lisbie

Subs
Akande Thorn Gordon Hunt Smith Williams Gape

Few people have been commenting on our pitch. It looks superb and is playing brilliantly. Full marks to the management for allowing valuable cash injections from the Farmers to finance the close season work which was well documented on the Colchester sites. Perhaps we are having problems readjusting to such a true surface. This will only enhance the football and our team over the course of almost 30 games at the JCS this season.

After Chris’ departure after 13 years of sterling work to the club, Michael has proven to be a real asset too. His efficiency in sourcing the new shirts has been brilliant.

Weather today will be 19 degrees some cloud and sunny intervals and dry.

Another decent crowd today and three points what’s not to like.
Enjoy the game.

Completely agree re Anderson. I had a ticket issue on Tuesday evening and Michael sorted it out straight away, so good to mention him. I'll take a scrappy 2-1 win today.

Not good today, 0-2 to barrow. We won't get promoted if we can't beat them.

New signings urgently needed esp if Thorn is going.

I have no words - dominated the game, but never took any of the chances available. It's clear where the problem is, let's hope we spend the Oscar money to sign that hidden gem up front who can fix it.

On to Barnet, with at least 700+ tickets sold already - travelling more in hope than expectation right now...

Wasn’t Lyle Taylor our hidden gem? Cowling didn’t see it that way though. Gave our top scorer to Chelmsford City. Lyle Taylor was the glue. Idiotic decision to let him go.

Although had the possession still cannot break sides down on the hard press. Wide men never got any ball inside the centre backs until late and then no enough bodies in the box . Visiting goalie only worked in the final ten when the game was already over .
Subs were like for like after a hour, but the game became a struggle in the first half after going a goal down and playing with the usual slow ponderous play which lack a cutting edge .
Goals win games in the stats, nothing else and the visitors did just that.

I had that thought today, but his injury and age is a problem, although that hasn't stopped us signing other older, injured players! Our defence is a problem at the moment, and we can't finish. Is it me, or does Edwards look short of pace compared to last season? The bright spot is the midfield, which looks good, especially Read, who has found some excellent form.

As the slow-motion car crash continues, we have some cracking journalism from Marky’s mate Mr. Kelly today, referring to Oscar, “the club have accepted a bid for the highly rated academy product”.

That’s the Arsenal and Norwich academies. He’d already turned professional before he came to us aged 19 and then went on loan to Bath and Chelmsford, so he can’t possibly have seen much of our academy.

….but hey, let’s just pretend if it makes us feel better.

I will be sad to see him go (Thorn, not Kelly).

Here's one slightly off left field.

Omari Patrick now plays for Tranmere and is scoring goals for fun.

Let's spend some money and offer £350K for his services but up to £500K.

Powerful big strong striker. Reminiscent of Trevor Lee.

If we are serious about promotion then get it done. And before people say we don't have the money we do.

We have sold six players all in excess of those type of financial receipts in the past three years

That would be a statement of intent.

Also Tranmere can't afford to turn down that sort of money.

Time for my medication before bed.

Ah yes. Mr Kelly. I'm a convert now, as he's a source of rich entertainment.

Just for balance, and much as I would love him to still be here, as far as I can tell Lyle is still injured and yet to make his Chelmsford debut.
