Nardi or Walsh for Charlton Game 20:37 - Aug 26 with 3342 views | numptydumpty | The club have managed this situation very poorly for all concerned. Paul Nardi last season was a contender at times for player of the season. His form tailed off later on, but still was a competent performer and a massive upgrade on Begovic from the previous season. It was known by many that from a very early stage of pre season that Walsh was going to be chosen as the number one goalkeeper. He had a very unfortunate nerve ridden game when we lost six nil against Castellon. Conceding four goals in the 45 minutes he played. This was probably the time to reconsider the chances of starting Joe ahead of Paul but this was a part of the project. For me, this has been bad all round and for all concerned. After a half decent season, Paul Nardi was dropped for no other reason than he is 31 and Walsh is 23. Walsh has still appeared very nervy and certain elements of his game struggle with the distribution side of the game, that we seem to have adhered to vehmently. Its looking like his confidence is clearly low and any man conceding seven in a game is going to be shell shocked, let alone a young player in his first ever long run in the side of any sorts. And Nardi, he must feel, he wants to leave the club and i would not blame him for that at all. He is at an age where he wants to play all the time and totally would get how put out, he must feel about being demoted. However, saying all this, and it will damage both players but i do feel we have to play Paul Nardi in the next game. It could damage Joe Walsh's confidence and the club need to manage this very carefully but i feel Nardi know has to play. What do others think regards this problem that has been very much of our own making.. [Post edited 26 Aug 20:38]

Nardi or Walsh for Charlton Game on 00:55 - Aug 28 with 625 views | LazyFan | This keeper mess if defo on Norry. If Nardi plays and plays well and continues to do so, it will fun watching Norry try and wriggle out of the quesiton of why Nardi was not made number 1 at the start of the season. The answer is obvious, he did not want to go, so we tried to force him out to be sold. Stupidly, every club now knows this, so now none of them will pay top monies. We could have got £2m for Nardi, now it will be nothing, idiots. If they really wanted to do that, they should have played him up until the end of the transfer window and then shopped him around this weekend. And then brought in Walsh. All they had to do was tell Walsh the plan and tell him to keep quiet as the spot is his once Nardi is sold. We actually did this before. Lums was #1, but Dieng was told to sign a 4-year contract, and you will play Saturday. And that's what happened. It's quite simple, keep it quiet and then just do the business under the cover of the window. QPR could have claimed "it was a large offer for a player we have a replacement for" and all that jonx. It is a complete shambles and a total disrespect for both players.

However if we do go Nardi then we won't ever get a cent for Walsh. He'll either run his contract down or we'll have to give him away. [Post edited 28 Aug 11:41]

Nardi or Walsh for Charlton Game on 07:12 - Aug 28 with 380 views | Gloucs_R | I disagree with Brian (we both have keeper pedigree so mutual respect for him) For a bottom half team, Nardi is more than good enough. Great shot stopper, decent with his feet and distribution is average. Does he win us points, yes. Fantastic keepers own their boxes and none of our lads do this. But Nardi is the best we have and good enough. Cooper looks like a good shot stopper but from what I've seen he'd quite small and doesn't claim much in the air. Walsh, said this a million times, needed to be the one on loan this season. Scandalous that he's been thrown in at the deep end after a couple of meaningless games when he did play. He's 2/3 years off challenging for the first team imo. Dieng didn't really get going until he was 25. Played a lot of football before he got his chance. Out of curiosity, how would you rank the last 10 keepers we had? 2024-2025: Paul Nardi (based on current season data) 2023-2024: Asmir Begović 2022-2023: Seny Dieng 2021-2022: Seny Dieng 2020-2021: Seny Dieng 2019-2020: Joe Lumley and Liam Kelly (shared the role) 2018-2019: Joe Lumley 2017-2018: Alex Smithies 2016-2017: Alex Smithies 2015-2016: Rob Green and Alex Smithies (shared the role) 2014-2015: Rob Green 2013-2014: Rob Green 2012-2013: Júlio César and Rob Green (shared the role) 2011-2012: Paddy Kenny 2010-2011: Paddy Kenny 2009-2010: Radek Černý 2008-2009: Radek Černý 2007-2008: Lee Camp and Radek Černý (shared the role) 2006-2007: Lee Camp 2005-2006: Paul Jones and Simon Royce (shared the role)
