Good transfer window.

Just a pity the window for buying season tickets ended on 31st of August. Why not a week after the transfer deadline closes. An opportunity to sell more missed.

They must have read your post , season tickets back on sale from September 5 to September 10

I have a problem with posters who say or imply that owners' and staff's aim might not necessarily be for promotion ... this year or season. If we aren't aiming for promotion this year or season, then all of our gushing comments are for naught, imo. Kudos to the owners and recruitment team for assembling a squad that has, at first glance, loads of talent and skill to be at least in the top six, if not the top two! I have faith in Sheehan, his staff, and the current team to gel quickly and start their ascent to the top. No excuses, please! Put a good product on the field and capacity crowds will follow.

Sorry for your problem......IMO, any team going into the Prem has to be top class, as its a tough old posh odl boys club to stay in these days , i wouldnt want to go up and face the prospect of a one season relegation route, and possible further drop!

Some regularly posters who duplicitously claim to be supporters are conspicuous by their absence on this thread.

Reasonably pleased with ownership, albeit with my previously mentioned concern about the levels of spending and our ability to absorb it.

It also needs to be said that we've achieved nothing yet. There's been some good signs from some players but it is still very early days and in this game fortunes can change quickly.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I don't worry about promotion and dropping straight back down. There's no point. If we go up we do our best when we get there and I'm confident if we did go up the owners would invest as much as they could in staying there.

If we did come straight down then use the parachute money to reinforce and go again.

I think the owners have given Sheehan a squad capable of going up, it's not guaranteed but it's possible. Maybe we need a bit of luck with injuries and suspensions, a bit of luck wih=th illnesses or even international call ups but that is how a season workds I guess. You can be very good but still need some luck. So I won't worry about it.

All I really want is to enjoy the ride and whatever happens, happens.

Promotion is still a long shot but to be challenging is possible. One thing I will say about if we eventually go up is the finances. When you get promoted you need a Premier League squad from day one to stand any chance of survival. Apart from season ticket sales the real money TV ect doesn't come in until the season progresses. This is where we are currently much better prepared to hit the ground running. Our current owners have serious money and are prepared to invest it if allowed, we would have a better chance than any time in recent history to stay up and progress.

Would bite your hand off to gain promotion but that is a long way off at the moment. Happy with the recent signings we have had at times but the previous owners plugged gaps but didn't have cover so the loss of quality players always hit us hard. This set of owners seem to have employed good staff to advise them on football matters , other areas not so much, things may need to change off the field but we will see how the playing staff develop as the season progresses

Even if we were to win the playoffs, I would consider us a top class team. Finishing top 2 even moreso. Making it to the Premier League is top class for any Championship club, no matter how you slice it

But my point was really about statements that try to promote positivity about "almost making it to the PL". The owners and recruitment staff aren't doing this for the "close, but no cigar" scenarios. Who's to say that if we were to finish in an "admirable" place in the standings but don't make it to the PL, then do we tell other teams who have great admiration for certain players to "fugg" off, that we're building for next year?

No, the owners & recruitment staff would probably consider selling assets and starting over again, because what they assembled didn't achieve their goal. And, quite frankly, that's their prerogative, if that's what makes sense for them to reach their ultimate goal, which is getting promoted to the Premier League.

Build you have to for the PL, and that means more than the team, the club as a structure and unit needs to be ready, from what I am hearing , we are not.

We have at least 10 months to prepare. The owners will be happy loaning transfer money to the club and getting it back when the TV money starts rolling in. We will be asset rich player wise, some top end Championship clubs will take players off us who have performed well but maybe aren’t quite good enough for the step up. That of course is IF we gain promotion.

On paper this squad is probably stronger than the one that achieved promotion to the promised land last time. If AS can keep the players believing in his different tactics for each opposition that we come up against and keep injury and suspension free there is no reason why we cannot at least get in to the play offs. The board have done what they promised and I hope the missing fans now come back to support the team

Much stronger. Quality backup/competition for every spot. If we avoid injuries we will be knocking on the door come next April I’m sure. That’s not arrogance that’s based on the ex PL teams not being as strong as last season and how well we did without such quality in depth and only half a season of Sheehan. Let’s be optimistic for a change.

The Club for me is still the Club ,something which is such as part of my life so no change there ,if it be good or bad .
The ownership for me is a distant entity ,gone are the days of localish ownership and having fingers burnt after Jase & Steves tenure I'm much more cynical but I have to say imo no one should complain about this summers dealings even at the final hour they still delivered quality whereas before yet another poor transfer window we'd have had " well we tried but" A rating of 10 ,like I say I don't think they could have done anymore other than break the bank and put us into financial difficulties.

Expectations: With the amount of quality in the squad and backed up by numbers I'd be disappointed should we not achieve play off status at the least.

Support for AS: Until proven differently I believe we have yet another managerial star in charge, he turned last season around for us with no where near the quality he has now ,he comes across as tactically aware with more than just a plan a and a good man manager with a humble persona.
As many others have said this season ahead looks like it could be our season to shine and why not I believe we have the Owners ,Manager and squad to reach the top.
