A case in the Virgin Islands has brought to light emails that show that Lord Mandelson was involved in a 2010 deal in which J P Morgan purchased the company Semphra Commodities with assistance from Jeffrey Epstein. Semphra was partly owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, which had been bailed out with public money. This happened two years after Epstein’s conviction for prostitution with minors.

Separately, a birthday card from Mandelson to Epstein for the latter’s 50th birthday, brought to light by the US House Oversight Committee, contains the message: “Once upon a time an intelligent, sharp-witted man they call ‘mysterious’ parachuted into my life”. In the so-called “birthday book” he wrote that Epstein was known for “taking you by surprise … in one of his glorious homes he likes to share with his friends (yum yum)”. Mandy had spent a week on Epstein's island, where he was photographed in a bath robe.

Lord Mandelson is the UK’s ambassador to the USA and there are reports that he advised on the recent crisis following Rayner’s problems with misconduct. Reports say that he has said he “very much regrets ever having been introduced to Epstein.” As another Mandy might have said, he would say that wouldn’t he.

Strong scuttlebutt doing the rounds on social media that things are about to get a whole lot worse for Starmer. Nothing specific yet, but hints that stuff that has been bubbling in the background for a while (Lord Ali, Ukrainian arsonists) might break loose.

A small but interesting tale just breaking about one of Starmer's top sides resigning because of a breaking story about him discussing the merits of Diane Abbot .
It's never a full day for sure.

I know and I made reference to the restrictions in the 3rd paragraph. The restrictions on A8 nationals could only ever be temporary.

Blair did impose restrictions on the A2 nationals (Bulgarians and Romanians) who joined the EU in 2007 but again, these could only be imposed for a fixed period.

Yes but he didn't put any on and the doors were opened. Some believe it was another form of gerrymandering by allowing people in he thought would vote Labour.

Temporary or fixed period, we were looking at years. Regardless it's not immigrants from Europe that people are getting worked up about.

That is something that hasn't changed, our politicians causing chaos and being unable to fix it.

Nobody with an ounce of sense would even contenplate appointing Peter Mandelson as British Ambassador to the US (he wasn't called the prince of darkness for no reason).

But there again, he did appoint David Lammy as foreign secretary, so if nothing else, Starmer is consistant.

It's becoming ever clearer that Starmer is a moron who is being advised by idiots. He makes Cummings and Bojo look not so bad!

Starmer appointed Mandelson because of his reported good relationship with Trump and the need for a trade deal on favourable terms and that pretty much worked for us because we’ve got one of the better trade deals with the US, it all worked out ok until this week when the past caught up with Mandelson. I strongly suspect there a lot more to run on the Epstein story in this country and across the pond, but I suspect some vested interests are trying to keep the lid on things.

Starmer getting into a mess with this one. I have confidence, then withdraw him a day later, then later say I didn't have the information, then I knew about the emails but had not read them............

Old adage , when in a hole stop digging .

Looks like Starmer is at the controls of his own JCB the rate he his making his tenure more of a joke .

Some social media sites or maybe keyboard warriors are planting real seeds of fear into another Labour Government vote next time or get Starmer out ASAP .

Kier is really on the ropes now , never mind The Don and his upcoming visit will take the heat off you for a few days , pretty pictures and kind words on tele , job done .

Starmer insisted in his message yesterday that he did “full due diligence” on Peter Mandelson before appointing him.

Now we know that can’t possibly be true because even a cursory glance at his career to date would show a litany of scandals, sackings, resignations, associations with dodgy individuals for private gain and general corrupt behaviour.

How was this missed during the full due diligence process?

The only saving grace for Starmer is that Trump probably wont mention it because of his own links with Epstein.

Never been keen on lawyers
Funnily enough , just before Covid , we met a nice company on a beach in Barbados and went to lunch with them
Discussed jobs and turned out he was a high court judge on south east circuit
I almost threw up on the spot
Very odd man but entertaining

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not
