A case in the Virgin Islands has brought to light emails that show that Lord Mandelson was involved in a 2010 deal in which J P Morgan purchased the company Semphra Commodities with assistance from Jeffrey Epstein. Semphra was partly owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, which had been bailed out with public money. This happened two years after Epstein’s conviction for prostitution with minors.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/epstein-brokered-billion-pound-deal-20483197

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/lord-mandelson-brokered-1billion-deal-with

Separately, a birthday card from Mandelson to Epstein for the latter’s 50th birthday, brought to light by the US House Oversight Committee, contains the message: “Once upon a time an intelligent, sharp-witted man they call ‘mysterious’ parachuted into my life”. In the so-called “birthday book” he wrote that Epstein was known for “taking you by surprise … in one of his glorious homes he likes to share with his friends (yum yum)”. Mandy had spent a week on Epstein's island, where he was photographed in a bath robe.

Lord Mandelson is the UK’s ambassador to the USA and there are reports that he advised on the recent crisis following Rayner’s problems with misconduct. Reports say that he has said he “very much regrets ever having been introduced to Epstein.” As another Mandy might have said, he would say that wouldn’t he.

The thing about Starmer is that he simply reacts to situations. When he does react he is a beat too late as illustrated by his tardiness in getting rid of Rayner and now Mandelson. The man does not seem to have a clear political and moral philosophy.

I think he's resigned twice from Government for impropriety in the past. You wonder how these people get selected again to represent the UK?

Starmer was well aware of Mandelsons past history before he appointed him British Ambassador to the US, it must bring into question Starmer's ability to make rational decisions.

David Lammy, Reeves, Ed Milliband, Rayner, Lord Hermer to name but a few.

A lot of the appointments are to placate the differing factions in the party and trying to keep the unions on-side.

There’s probably no coincidence in Angela Rayner having a very public barney with the unite union recently and all this stuff suddenly coming out about her.

The knives are sharpened.

Which just shows that Starmer isn't fit to lead the country, his judgement is shocking..

In what world was Mandy suitable for another government post? The world of the insane?

This is the crux of it for me. Even Starmer isn't dull enough to think that Mandelson isn't dodgy down to the bones, so why on Earth appoint him to one of the highest profile Ambassadorial posts available ahead of dozens of more qualified candidates?

Every decision he makes is stupid. Every lie obvious. It's almost like he's doing the job terribly to win a bet, like a politics based version of Brewster's Millions.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I suspect that Starmer took the risk of appointing Mandelson on account of the previous reports which claimed Mandelson had a good relationship with Trump and I suspect Starmer hoped this could benefit the country obtain a favourable trade deal and benefit us in other ways, but it’s all gone Pete Tong for Starmer on account of the US electorates continued interest in Epstein.

In the run up to the US election the Republicans repeatedly made reference to Epstein and in February Pam Bondi claimed to have a list of clients, but it’s never been published and now there’ve been denials it ever existed! The US electorate are being fed conflicting information and they smell a rat. The Whitehouse have been on the back foot and are looking to shut the story down and 1 strategy has been to release further information which has brought Mandelson in to the picture and it’s blown up in Starmers face. Had the US electorate interest been quelled some time ago this story wouldn’t have come out, but it has come out and Mandelson had to go.

It’ll be interesting to see what else comes out because I don’t think Mandelson is going to be the last name we’re going to hear about.

I don’t think Mandelson should have been appointed in the first place, but I can see why he was.

Debate earlier repoting Starmer is relying on Nu Labour stalwarts to give him advice .

They were a past history of UK politics , move on and get some fresh new ideas into how we as a Nation can overcome the mire we are in with corrupt Politicians in charge . Probably the cupboard is bare for real talent .

Now looks like Farage is in the firing line for a dodgy house purchase in Clacton .

Wonder if the Press will will go after him with the same gusto and enthusiam they have shown in recent weeks to shame a Politician .

The press will have a field day in the upcoming issues of thier headline news focus now .

Starmer the brush it under the Axmister carpet Leader or Farage riding high in the polls on his promised pledges to put the UK to rights on his claims

Am starting to like Kemi Badenoch though , at least she is trying to rebuilt a decent Opposition and ask Starmer the difficult questions which he always avoids answering .

But turn around the mess Bojo and Liz Truss made of their tenure is a big ask .

As I've said previously, I was impressed by her as a Minister. She seemed willing enough to take on the nonsense sent her way by Labour. As Leader she's been too unwilling to go on the attack. To really shred the nonsense that Starmer is sending her way. As leader she has disappointed.

She was much, much better on the Mandelson stuff at the recent PMQ's though so maybe there's hope, but overall she needs to up her game. This Goverment is dead in the water so there's nothing to be gained by holding back.

Ask any of our now younger generation , are you going to vote in the Local Council elections and a blank stare is the answer . Likewise a vote in the General Election .

Nah , their all corrupt innit so will not bother to walk to the polling Station , waste of time .

After the events in London on Saturday , well planned by the Right Wing element of society they gained mass media attention and headline news on The BBC , a win it seems .

Farage was also no where to be seen as a backdrop to the protests from what I have viewed so far , but I bet he was relishing all the chaos .

Nice to see The Welsh Dragon flag flying proudly in the protests too , good effort there .

She is held back by the small boats fiasco to go for the end game .

Blair threw Border contol out of the window , lets get everyone into the UK.
My Human Rights lawyer wife will see them ok , when eligable a vote for us .

Priti Patel and Sunak turned a blind eye and made big promises to get illegal immigrants back to where they came from , however , it seems both of them and others have done a runner and are hiding in the long grass .

Starmer will always have the upper hand , you had 14 years to sort the mess out which you pledged to do whilst in Government yourselves , you failed also , do not point fingers now .

Sure Mandelson , his PR team and book publishers are rubbing their hands already .

The comment about Blair “throwing border control” isn’t quite accurate. He could have gone better, but some of the causes pre date his time as PM.

Freedom of movement for workers had been of the cornerstones of the EEC since 1957. When John Major signed the Maastricht Treaty in 1992 that expanded FOM to everyone. When Tony Blair came to power FOM was already in place and there was nowt he could do about it.

When the EU expanded in the 2000’s to incorporate some of the former Eastern Block countries Blair could have introduced temporary restrictions on migrants coming in to the UK from the new countries for 2 years and, under certain circumstances the restrictions could have been extended for under certain criteria BUT there was no option to extend the restrictions permanently.
I believe Blair was 100% wrong not to introduce restrictions when the EU expanded.

Migration under the previous Conservative regimes has been much higher than it ever was under Labour, I’ve previously posted the stats on her (and I can’t be bothered to try and find them) but they were on average around 50% higher per year than they were under Labour.

The last few years of the Conservative government saw net migration of around 2mn - that’s the net figure the actual number coming in was much higher than that.

What we have seen since Brexit is a marked change in the type of immigration, previously it was primarily white Christian Europeans, now we’re seeing more Asians and Africans who may have different religions.

I am no Blair fan and if I had my way he’d have been investigated criminally for his tole in the Iraq dossiers saga. Blair got things wrong, but he isn’t the only one responsible for where we are now. The likes of Boris, Sunak and May are also responsible.

Not 100% true major, Blair could have put restrictions onto the FOm because the Eu allowed them. Instead Blair threw the doors wide open claiming not that many would come.

What has happened in reality is that all politicians from all sides have screwed us over for decades and it goes back beyond Thatcher too.

I know and I made reference to the restrictions in the 3rd paragraph. The restrictions on A8 nationals could only ever be temporary.

Blair did impose restrictions on the A2 nationals (Bulgarians and Romanians) who joined the EU in 2007 but again, these could only be imposed for a fixed period.

Mandy has gone. What a shambles of a Government we've got. I am beginning to feel ashamed I voted for them. I expected far more from Starmer than we are getting, particularly after the preceding lot.

And people are quick to tell me that I've no say because I never voted, I don't vote because I don't trust anyone of them and they don't represent me, with need proper people in these parties to step up and take the lead, not these pampered clueless millionaires who live up in their ivory towers with no idea as to what goes on in the real world who think they can be politicians.

Strong scuttlebutt doing the rounds on social media that things are about to get a whole lot worse for Starmer. Nothing specific yet, but hints that stuff that has been bubbling in the background for a while (Lord Ali, Ukrainian arsonists) might break loose.
