QPR sponsorship curse strikes again 19:31 - Sep 17 with 2663 viewsJamieNaz

Guava Pay forced to cease continuing any transactions by the FCA (I think, that's not confirmed by them, but reading between the lines.)

They were our sleeve sponsor last year. Not sure if they still are?

Rather than announcing sponsors maybe we should just keep them up our sleeve.

Calm down everyone, it was an off the cuff remark.

Theyb have stopped any new business due to unresolved issues with the FCA. All current business proceeds as normal. Guava Pay are the front of shirt sponsors for Millwall and back of shirt for Glasgow Rangers.

That's not what Millwall are saying:

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

Let's hope the club learns not to use start up companies in the future for such a key service.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Wait, I don't think we use them for any services?

They're not a Point of Sale provider as far as I know.

They offer electronic money accounts, so, basically a bank but more like a digital pre paid card.

You top up your wallet and then you can make payments from a digital card they issue.

Looks like they might have either breached some safeguarding rules (keep your money separate from their business accounts) or run into liquidity issues (run out of money).

Sorry for the boring post. I work in payments though. Opened a guavapay account so I could get a digital QPR card... Never used it though because the app wasn't very slick...

Be interesting to see how many of our fans used their service based on the company having an advertisement on our lower championship clubs shirt sleeve.

First I’d ever heard of them was this thread.

I don’t know if the numbers would add up, but I’ve always thought it would be a good idea to raffle off our sponsorship to local charities Omaze style.

Would be great PR and would help with the community work.

I’d be more inclined to buy a shirt too.

I've always thought they should do limited editions for the local pubs. 500 each with the name of the pub on the sleeve.

Probably unwise on a number of levels, but I'd show my support

It's what happens when you mix the long arm of the law with a short sleeve sponsor

I met a couple of guys behind Guava a couple of years ago at a trade show in Manchester and I was rather unconvinced by their patter then. It was just after their initial sponsorship with us was announced.

I went and looked them up on Companies House afterwards and they were just another Fintech company that had received a huge chunk of investor cash and was swallowing it up at an incredible rate.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they collapse in full after this, felt it was always a matter of time in a crowded market full of companies all doing the same thing.
