Putin is effectively losing in Ukraine, as long as they oppose him he does not look strong and he doesn't now how long before he is deposed by a "strong man". his only off-ramp and chance to cling to power is if he can drag a NATO nation into kinetic action and therfore claim that it took the collective might of NATO to stop Russsia and not "little old Ukraine". |  |

He won't find it easy to take Poland they've amassed an hell of a military force, they;ve spent billions on their armed forces since the end of WW2.

Exactly.
Putin can't "take Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, onto Poland, then the big ones". It's been three and a half years and several hundred thousand deaths and he can't even take a quarter of the Ukraine.
There's not a chance in hell that he could do even two of the Baltic countries without nuking his economy and his population, especially now they're all forewarned. If he came directly West he'd never get past Poland, and he'd have to go via Belarus to get to them. |  |

Recognising Palestine was denounced as posturing by Rifkind this morning. He said it has no benefit for anyone and Palestine has none of the characteristics of a state at the moment anyway so he called it posturing.
