The Tories cam to power in 1979 because Labour failed, remember the winter of discontent?
Name a country with a successful socialist government? Venezuela?
Now then, "English greed"? Here we go again eh? Wales has voted a Labour government in for 25 years and things have been getting worse, hardy a socialist paradise are we.
The tories didn't win in 79 because Thatcher won the argument they won because Labour lost the plot. Likewise we had 14 years of the tories after Blair and Brown (Beown who sold the family gold for a pittance) caused a boom and massive bust.
Indeed they came to power after the winter of discontent but the post war consensus was broken after they were able to put their policies in place like the 'right to buy', which would have been the following year after the General Election.
Labour had won elections before and lost elections before but the difference this time was Labour's socialist policies were not going to win another election as the choice had become high tax high spend versus low tax and low spend, people in England particularly went for low tax and low spend and live for today and not for tomorrow, our future demise as a country might well have started then.

The right to buy was manifesto pledge that Thatcher promised and honoured, she had the mandat from the eletorate. There was no breaking any concensus.
Labours policies had led to strike actions across the country, the workers weren't happy at the government capping pay rises to try and curb inflation. In the end there were public AND provate sector strikes and a very cold winter. From the web.... The unrest had deeper causes besides resentment of the caps on pay rises. Labour's internal divisions over its commitment to socialism, manifested in disputes over labour law reform and macroeconomic strategy during the 1960s and early 1970s, pitted constituency members against the party's establishment. Many of the strikes were initiated at the local level, with national union leaders largely unable to stop them. Union membership, particularly in the public sector, had grown more female and less white, and the growth of the public sector unions had not brought them a commensurate share of power within the TUC.

It's becoming clear that if you express an opinion that those on the left do not agree with you are a far right nazi.
And if you express an opinion that the right do not agree with you are WOKE or an unwashed lefty... you are falling for "othering" as much as anyone else. The oligarchs are in the driving seat...home and abroad.
It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. - Carl Sagan

Not always However we are class ridden as a society Even in football fanbases Good fans bad fans The bad don’t have opinions really All opinions my arse
The label “far right” is nothing more than a tool to shut down debate. In reality, those branded with it are often just ordinary Britons who are genuinely concerned about how the government treats its own citizens.
We’ve seen this tactic before. During Covid, anyone questioning the narrative was quickly dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist” or an “anti-vaxxer.” Now, it’s the same playbook with a different label and we can expect yet another one to be created for those who oppose “digital ID” in the months ahead. The problem for the establishment is that these terms lose their sting the more they are used. What once silenced people now barely registers. Those who were once intimidated by such labels increasingly dismiss them, because overuse has stripped them of any real meaning.

Can you explain and provide evidence of why you would deem Tommy Robinson far right?
Is it because he shines a light on the corrupt establishment and the way the grooming gangs have been brushed under the carpet by the police and local councils?
Is it because he's an ex football lad?
Or is it because the media say so?
I'm intrigued

Might be because he’s proud to be British and that includes Wales btw He might not like our once optic working class cities like Bradford , Leicester or Burnley islamified to such an extent as to be virtually unrecognisable from just 60 yrs ago I’m clearly right wing
I didn’t agree with your Covid stance and still don’t but you’ve posted real honesty on this one

Would he and does he put Israel first before England ?
Just seen a few old interviews about him and the EDL , did Israel create a far right anti Islam movement in the UK for its own ends.
Seen an old video of Nick Griffin talking about his party been approached, I wonder if they couldn't buy him so did they just created thevEnglish Defence League themselves.

Yes but she didn't just do it, she put it in the manifesto and the people gave her the mandate.
People chose tory because Labour were a shambles. The reason this country is a shambles is because Labour AND Tory have been a shambles, not just because one of them but because of both of them.

Very well put Mangohilljack....
There is quite obviously an agenda to shut down dissent of the rubbish that comes our way dressed up as fact or necessity by the MSM...
That should deeply concern everyone of all political persuasions...
The fact that it doesn't save those on the alleged and besmirched 'far right' is alarming...
At what point do the liberal left wake up and say "hang on they're f**king all of us here"?

Wait until we get closer to an election, operation "get Farrage" will kick in. I wonder if they'll invent a new derogotary word for those voting reform.

The establishment are really upping the personal attacks on Farage ,you know when there's some sort of conspiracy when some like Farage has his bank accounts closed and the remaining main street banks are refusing to let him open one with any of them.

They’re terrified of him He’s stating what the vast majority haven’t the guts to do The fact he’s a smarmy Kent is nowt to do with it Our politicians shouldn’t be likeable , like posters on this forum really It’s about honesty
Prize clown Ed Davey today joined the many voices who have called Farage ad Reform " a threat to our democracy"
Like many I immediately thought "what ******* Democracy?"
These berks haven't listened to the voters and done whatever the fook they like and generally the exact opposite to what the public want to see happen for at least 25 years...
If that's democracy then you can shove it where the monkey hides its nuts...

Davey makes my skin itch
I’m right wing but hate our monarchy which is left wing thinking
You do realise that the more people like you knock Reform the more determined people are to vote for them. Ignore them and they won't get the publicity they strive.

On a personal level it doesn't matter to me, people can vote for who they like, I'm not involved in politics and never have been I'm just a voter.

What democracy, good question, what's happened to freedom of speech to start with,
The left to me are the people on top of that skyscraper in the film Independence day looking in awe at the Alien space vessel hovering above them, they are shouting welcome and how lovely it looks and then they all get zapped.
