Saito 14:51 - Sep 20 with 8448 views | Superhoops2808 | Gotta say, and I know I am biased as without doubt my favourite player, but anyone here who thought the re-signing of Saito was a big mistake needs their head examining. He is without doubt an even better player than when he played for us last season - And you know what? This time he is OURS Well played today and without doubt MOM for me

Saito on 08:59 - Sep 21 by OakR | I think the other difference with Saito compared to Austin etc is that he is a lot younger, room to get better and theoretically much better chance of making your money back or selling for a profit. |
Agreed. Of course, if he gets injured his age is irrelevant. We have no idea how much we've spent on fees in the last couple of years, how long the contracts are, how high the wages are - basically if we're financially in trouble down the line, or not.

I would think, after everything Nourry has said about being financially sustainable, that’s it’s extremely unlikely he’s ’bet the house’ on Saito. He’s spent a chunk of the Eze money. And you do have to invest and spot opportunity and real value (and chance for big sales profits) when it comes along. Salo was that. No one was questioning spending £3millon on Kone and on current evidence Saito is nearly as important. Although I admit there is nothing better than a great striker. And Kona is the best striker in the Championship IMO

Well, the fact that Hoos is still around makes me feel better on that front - I hope he's still looking at the books. Nourry is inexperienced and has a shaky relationship with the truth, so I take everything he says with a pinch of salt, for now at least. I think the reason people were worried about the Saito outlay is purely because it came after so many other signings and in a position where we already had players. Same with the rumour re signing Edwards. I think that's understandable.

I agree Brian. I absolutely love Saito but didn't want to bet the house on him when we didn't have an experienced LB and another DM. I also didn't want to repeat the Austin/Johansen season where we had no financial ceiling for the next two seasons. Hopefully our couple of sales plus the Ebs windfall plus getting expensive Colback and Fox off the books will mean we're not repeating that. Incidentally Norrington-Davies is supposedly on a whacking wage - £25k pw - surely we're not shouldering all of that?
Saito on 08:34 - Sep 22 with 2093 views | gazza1 | I think most of the concerns were 'do we need another wide player & what is he going to cost'......and rightly so imo. Since he signed he has done very well indeed, he is a good lad and should get better this season as he plays more & the season progresses. Gives 110% all of the time.

Saito on 07:24 - Sep 21 by HammersmithR | He’s just a Rangers type player. Gets fans off their seats. Plays with a smile on his face. Can’t see Chair getting in the side now. I like Chair, but he doesn’t half slow us down when we play. |
Could that have been a result of not having Vale, Madsen, Kone & Burrell to play alongside? When he had Willock it was all pass and move between them so I would hazard that his natural game isn't to slow things down.
| The grass is always greener. |

I wouldn't pay too much attention to twitter tittle tattle. There's no way we're picking up that kind of tab for a borrowed left back. Pennies have been very carefully counted since Hoos arrived and I don't expect that's changed.

Wasn't Hoos the CEO for the Austin/Johansen season? I think he was. Although I'm guessing Warbs twisted the Board's arms rather than Hoos's. You're probably right though they're not going to repeat that experiment. Doubt we'd be paying full whack. Quite satisfying given our respective league positions.
Saito on 13:46 - Sep 22 with 1694 views | aston_hoop | Can't believe people didn't want him at that price and at his age. There were more times than we care to remember last season where he dragged our attack to other levels when we were struggling otherwise. It is no surprise at all that since he has come in, we look like a different team up front. I'm delighted he is back and continuing on his own upwards trajectory

Saito on 13:49 - Sep 22 with 1673 views | Harbour | He was superb on Saturday against a lesser goalie he would have scored. Made the winner and was a constant threat…keep going Saito…
Saito on 14:00 - Sep 22 with 1636 views | dmm | I hope he never loses his mad enthusiasm and boyish smile. His joy in playing football is infectious. With the hyper-professionalisation of the game, he reminds us that football is fun.
Saito on 14:03 - Sep 22 with 1624 views | Fearless | It was my grandsons 1st game on Saturday and as such he was invited pitch side to watch the warm up, high-five the players and have a quick chat & photo with Julien Stephan in the dug out. All the players were very good at high-fiving him, but Saito accidentally ran past. Immediately he ran in a quick circle to come back around to make sure he slapped my grandsons hand. Quality from Koki and much appreciated. & many thanks to the club for arranging this treat for him [Post edited 22 Sep 14:20]

Saito on 14:26 - Sep 22 with 1571 views | Pdog | You can tell they’ve clearly worked on him drifting inside more, even popping up on the right to create overloads. That’s where his shots against Wrexham came from, plus the goal-making run on Sat. Maybe someone more tactically astute can break down how he’s managing to pop up everywhere, because it’s making us so much more fluid.

Yes, and I suspect you're right on Warbs. We didn't breach FFP then and I don't expect we will now. My guess - and it is just a guess - is that many if not all of our current younger and less experienced players, picked up from smaller European leagues and L1 - are on substantially lower wages than the likes of (ex PL) Austin and Johansen. Harvey Vale, two Champ appearances and injured when we signed him - do we think he's on a massive wedge? And so on.

According to one of those footballer's wages sites Vale is on £12.5k which is the same as Kone and Burrell combined. Kone earns five times less than Kieffer Moore! And 12 times less than Harry Winks https://capology.com/club/qpr/salaries/ Liam Morrison and Varane seem like bargains given they're regulars in the team. Obviously these could be made up!
