Week 8 results BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION 2 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 2 Tottenham fought back from two-goals down to secure a deserved point. Only 2 got this spot-on, and a further 7 (all going 1-1) had the outcome. 12 predicted a win for Tottenham with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score. WEST HAM UNITED 1 CRYSTAL PALACE 2 Palace beat West Ham to pile the pressure on Hammers boss Graham Potter amid fan protests before and during the match. A super 6 had this spot-on, and another 9 got the outcome. WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 1 LEEDS UNITED 3 Three first-half goals helped Leeds claim their first Premier League away win of the season at the expense of Wolves, who remain rooted to the foot of the table without a point this term. Nobody got this spot-on, but 6 did have the outcome. DERBY COUNTY 0 PRESTON NORTH END 1 Alfie Devine earned Preston their first Championship victory away from home this season. 3 had this spot-on, and 2 more got the outcome. HULL CITY 3 SOUTHAMPTON 1 Will Still's tough start as Southampton manager continued as Hull cruised to a win. Again nobody got this spot-on, though 3 did have the outcome. 18 predicted a win for Southampton. PORTSMOUTH 0 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2 Wednesday ended their winless run in style by claiming a deserved first Championship victory of the season. No points for anyone, in a game that looked like being how many would Portsmouth win by, as everyone predicted them to win. After last weeks bonanza when nine members got double figure scores, we were back down to earth with a dump this week, when there was a return to unpredictable results again, that gave us the worst week of the season so far. All six games had a well supported team, but only Palace played ball, as their win produced over half of the total 11 spot-ons. Considering only three games had a 3 pointer, two members did well to get two of them. They were basher2010, who got the Brighton 2-2 and the Preston 1-0, and two outcomes, to make him the weeks top scorer, with an excellent 8 points, Also Sector4, who had the Brighton 2-2 and the Palace 2-1, to give him a decent 6 points. Best of those to have one 3 pointer was gerry_us, who got the Palace 2-1, and three outcomes, to give him a decent 6 points. In the Premeir With Sector4 following up last weeks top scoring performance, by getting another decent one this week, it has allowed him to stretch his lead to a healthy 7 points. One outcome was enough for Jorash63 to hold on to the other Charity Shield spot, but only on the most 3 pointer rule from thrillseeker. By each having the Preston 1-0 spot-on, concordman and Daniel both moved up a couple places to fourth and fifth. The only other change has mfb_cufc moving up a place, and out of the bottom three, thanks to getting the Palace 2-1 spot-on. In Division One One outcome was enough for noah4x4 to maintain the lead, but it was reduced to 2 points by durham_exile, after a solid week, that included having the Palace 2-1 spot-on, moved him up a couple of places into the other automatic place. The decent week for gerry_us moved him up three places to third. This is his highest position since he was third after Week 12 in the 2021/22 season. Only one outcome each for Tropical_Us and BFG, and they both drop two to fourth and fifth. One outcome also for NME_cufc, and he takes up the final play-off spot. The top scoring performance from basher2010 moved him two places, and more importantly, within four points of the play-offs. THE TABLES (56 out of 280 played) (Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post) Week 9 Fixtures MANCHESTER CITY v BURNLEY NORTHAMPTON TOWN v BOLTON WANDERERS STOCKPORT COUNTY v READING WIGAN ATHLETIC v CARDIFF CITY ACCRINGTON STANLEY v WALSALL CHESTERFIELD v NEWPORT COUNTY Good luck everybody. | |
