Fantastic pod lads, a great trip down memory lane.

Hilly mentioned a few times the importance of the club having ambition and the negative impact selling your best players can have on the belief of rest of the squad. Perhaps a useful reminder given how well we've started this season...

Once again, a reminder that players *may* be signing for Dale on condition they have a clause in their contracts that allows them to move should a certain level of offer come in

Not too sure that that’s not any different at any club. Players have release clauses etc.

Unfortunately it’s the way of life if you can’t cover the bills with any other revenue streams. The thing that may be different now to previous boards, as Keith eludes to, is while it will enviable we will eventually sell players to be sustainable, the Ogdens have the funds so that we can decide when the time is right, rather than derail a season.

A fantastic listen and well done to the lads for organising and executing it so well. A great listen and insight into the mechanics of our best ever spell.

It also demonstrates the importance of the Manager having a good working relationship with the hierarchy including the CEO.

That's the take-away piece from this which present incumbents should heed, as I'm sure they already do.

Poll: Who do you think bury should appoint as their next manager?

Unless the contract clause includes "...but the club can retain the player until the end of the season", the player would be free to leave at whatever point the clause-triggering bid came in; presumably during the January window if it were a football league club

With or without a contract clause, a player, being denied a career opportunity at a club in a higher division might easily become disenchanted if forced to stay

I get what people are saying about the club having funds not to need to sell, but it's just not as simple as that

I really enjoy both these podcasts – the people behind them are brilliant, and I always listen as soon as they’re released.

One thing that stood out from the second part was Keith’s view that using the Hogan money to buy the ground made us an asset-rich club, which in turn put a target on our backs. It attracted alleged vultures interested only in asset-stripping, and perhaps that wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t bought the ground.

To be clear, I’m not referring to the current board – we all know who I mean. But I thought it was a fascinating point I hadn’t considered: maybe the well-intentioned decision to buy back our ground was also the beginning of our problems?

Interesting point

Anyone know the timeline between the ground purchase and Bottomley joining us?

I thought we bought the ground with the aid of a mortgage from RMBC, paid off early by the board that was formed after the wretch was removed by shareholders?

I think it was Bill Goodwin and Chris Dunphy who were instrumental in us purchasing the ground back. Bill Goodwin in particular.
