1. There is very little around the ground for pre match, two pubs, one which was home fans only and another which was packed with Saints fans, it shows that we dodged a bullet with trying to build a ground at Stoneham in the 1990's

2. I didn't think the atmosphere in the home ends was as good as it used to be, perhaps because the drummer wasn't as prevalent as it used to be.

3. It was easy to park, they had a free area for the coaches and mini buses.

4. They had run out of food by half time

5. Why do Derby people call each other Mi Duck

Have to disagree about Stoneham. One of the major reasons I'm an irregular attender these days is because of the difficulties of getting to and away from the stadium.

5. They're trying to sound like people from Nottingham.

("Ducas" (or Dux) was a Latin term, adopted into Anglo-Saxon England, meaning "leader" and it was also a form of respect, similar to governor. It is the etymological root of the modern English word "Duke" and is preserved in the vernacular term of endearment "duck" used in the East Midlands, as in the greeting "Ay up me duck".)

So, basically, it's like the use of "gov" in London.

If we had gone to Stoneham the nearest station was Parkway, the access by walking was not that good, no real footpaths and so quite dangerous.

There would not have been enough parking and that there was would have all had to funnel out of Stoneham Lane and in one direction to the motorway. it would have been gridlock.

St Mary's has fairly good access when compared to most grounds in the Premier League and a fair few in the Championship, try parking near Anfield, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Man Utd and it's difficult, queues at train and underground stations are massive and in the case of Anfield miles from the ground.

Stoneham was not the right place for a football stadium, yes it was near a motorway but the area around it didn't allow for smooth access to and from the stadium.

I'm sure you are correct and am also sure that with a bit of planning, some of these issues could be solved. It's all irrelevant now anyway.

I come in from 30 miles away. By car, in order to arrive in time for a pint of what passes as beer at the stadium, I need to leave home no later than 1pm for a 3pm kick off. I park about a mile away, paying heaven's knows what, walk 25/30 minutes to the stadium.

If I leave the stadium at the final whistle, I'm back at the car by say 5:20. If I'm home before 7pm after queuing to get out of the city, I've had a good journey.

If I go by train, it's perhaps an hour quicker on the day but more walking.

DO you know, by the way, why there is not a train platform at the stadium given that the train from Parkway literally goes past the ground?

Driving depends on what direction you are in and where you park, If i do have to go home after a match, I'm heading down Millbrook Road, I park by Bedford Place and if the match finishes at 5 i'm back at the car by 5.20 and usually going past the M27 roundabout at 5.45, I don't live 30 miles away, but I would say that you can get to Bournemouth & Basingstoke from there in 40 mins.

The train station is not that much further than a mile and there are buses.

The issue with no train station at the ground is cost, originally due to backhanders to train platform builders the cost was astronomical 25 years ago when the ground was being built, now its cheaper but it is about logisitcs.

You can only get a train down that line that comes from the North ie London direction, so if you schedule a train down from there you are isolating those that will get it, ie those that want to travel down to Southampton & beyond.

You cant send a train from Southampton Central to the branch line as the old Spur that used to be there closed in 1966 in the Beeching cuts and is now filled in.

So if you had a train from Central Station it would have to go past the turning and then be redirected back, that is time consuming given the amount of trains that pass by in a short period of time that would be delayed to do this

Just about the only real option would be to run a shuttle service from Parkway up and back, but again it is costly to do that and when you add on building the platform etc and the numbers that would use it not viable

1. Good job you didn't go to the Navigation pub you suggested on your Guide to Derby feature. I went past it on the way to the stadium and can confirm that the pub has closed down, but you can park your car there on Match Days for a Fiver. There is also a car wash in the car park.

2. They haven't won at home all season, so nothing really there to get them going.

3. Was in Block 47/48 and the stairs going up to the stands were very narrow, especially with 2 stewards standing there. No wonder it took ages to depart at the end. One at a time FFS.

4. Nice poster as you entered the Gents. Saints Fans: Thank you for travelling 168 miles for today's game. (or something like that)

5. We were driving, but I heard at HT that a few trains were cancelled, so hope everyone got back at a decent hour !!

1- Cross Country Trains are terrible 4 coaches vastly overcrowded turning away passengers
2-I was refused entry to the Harvester because I had a Tesco sandwich and a Kit Kat in my bag !!! (no food policy) I wanted something to eat and a drink, not unless you dispose of all food
3-It's a miracle, It's a miracle
4- Saints Yoof, what a bunch of idiots, drinking cheap wine abusing passengers, fighting on the platform, a total embarrassment.

Train was rammed all the way only 4 coaches from Southampton to Manchester ffs one Young lad was crying because he wet himself as you couldn’t get to the toilet . There were people with large suitcases blocking the aisles they got on at parkway but it didn’t help the situation. 4 fkin carriages !!!

Frustrating game . I said to a saints fan on the train before the game it would be just our luck if Stewart got injured. Hey presto look what happened. Sometimes I feel we’re cursed .

My first trip to Derby since the play offs decent stadium, decent fans. Preferred the Baseball ground though .

Had a few beers in Wetherspoons Derby station and The Harvester .
