Youngsters Kuffour and Harvey impressed, but Powell looked a tad vulnerable and Hunt was defensively exposed on occasion, possibly because Edwards doesn’t put in a defensive shift. A joy is that the Cowleys now know their best starting XI, albeit eight or nine didn’t start last night.
Nice feeling walking home. Really looking forward to Grimsby away in daylight and not on a murky Tuesday. .

Samson’s confidence is definitely shot right now, and it’ll be a tough road to get it back, particularly as his chances to do so will be from the bench for a while to come. I feel for the lad, but sadly there are already those who claim to support Colchester United showering him with mindless toxic abuse in the social media cesspool.

Spot on Wessex. Confidence is massive in sport and his isn't going to be restored by his own fans getting on his back. Was really hoping he'd get a goal last night as he needs one. People seemed to have quickly forgotten his performances against Swindon and Port Vale last season. I think we rushed him back at his detriment and he hasn't looked the same player since.

It's not a question of being supportive, or not. The Cowleys approach to football encourages the worst in Samson. DC seems to revel in Samson wrestling with defenders, winding them up. That might be good for the team, but it's not good for Samson.
A different manager, a different approach to football, could bring out the best in him, It's not working for him under DC and all of DC's constant BS and blowing smoke up his rear isn't going to change that. A change of scenery and a bit of luck in front of goal could soon kickstart his career. Being DC's leading shithousery merchant will destroy it.
I don't buy the fact a transfer fell through as an excuse, OK maybe for a week or so at the most. Anytime anybody has tried to knock me back in life has just make me more determined to succeed. There's nothing like scoring goals for proving a point, but week-in week-out DC sends him out and he spends the game winding up defenders.
Also, I don't buy the 'he's only young' codswallop either, he's not some sulky 14 year old, he's 21 and his career will be over before he knows it.
