Bassist with the Moody Blues. Apparently he was a devout Christian which saved him from the excesses that befell many a rock star.
I'm sure he liked a pint or two down the pub though.

Being of a certain age I remember buying the single Blue Guitar by John Lodge and Justin Hayward back in 1975. I t was released on the Moody's very own Threshold label.
In a year that was dominated by the Rollers.Kenny and the Wombles Blue Guitar was one of the great singles released in 75 along with Queen's Bo Rhap,Bowie's Young Americans and Greg Lake's Christmas anthem.
Any additions to those ?

Maybe one for the 'not a lot of people know' thread but 10cc were the backing band on the Blue Guitar single and co-produced it.

With Mike Pinder passing last year he was the last original member of the Moody Blues to go and now Justin Hayward is the last of the Mk II 'classic' lineup standing.

1975 gets a bit of a bad rap as a terrible year for music and part of the reason punk happened but there were some good singles.

Other great 1975 singles (IMO):
How Does It Feel - Slade
#9 Dream - John Lennon
The Night - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
Life Is A Minestrone - 10cc
Pick Up The Pieces - Average White Band
Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) - Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel
Walking In Rhythm - The Blackbyrds
The Hustle - Van McCoy
Someone Saved My Life Tonight - Elton John
Jive Talkin' - Bee Gees
Do It Again - Steely Dan
Who Loves You - Four Seasons
S.O.S - Abba
Love Is The Drug - Roxy Music
Golden Years - David Bowie

Good choices.
I'd also add this from 1975. A classic Mizell brothers production.

There was also an album by the two of them called Blue Jays (clever) with my fave track "I dreamed last night"
The Moody Blues were my favourite group of that era and I still play all their albums. Days of Future Past with the Symphony Orchestra was groundbreaking.

God Bless You, John Lodge.

No wonder 1975 gets a bad rap.

Or did they.mean The 1975.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." Have to say I don’t know a lot about John Lodge but to all music makers RIP

I love the 1975 playlists. I’d add Lou Reed ‘Kicks’, Be Bop De Luxe ‘Maid in Heaven’ and the game changer. Listening to my uncle’s vinyl’s. Deemed as a novelty song back then along with the Goodies but even as a 9 year old I was nah this ain’t no novelty this is the future

And best album art in ‘75 was Budgie … spent hours sipping Tizer gazing at that shit

'Knights in White Satin' was the reason I got off with the girl I'd fancied for 'ages' - we were both 12. Lot to be said for slow sets.

I preferred the follow up “ Nights In White City “.
