Three favourite films of all time 11:14 - Feb 6 with 28434 viewsKonk

Inspired by the three favourite albums thread and bored silly at work, I've taken the bold decision to launch a thread titled, "Three favourite films of all time".

In no particular order:

Rushmore
It's a wonderful life
Miller's Crossing

Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

Three favourite films of all time on 12:25 - Feb 6 with 1759 viewsA40Bosh

Gregory's Girl (Hearing the line "tits bum fanny the lot" on screen at 13 was hilarious!)

Firefox (God only knows why, because in some ways it's awful, but it is just one of those films I just love)

The Fellowship of the Ring (Don't care what the anti Tolkien/Jackson mob say, it is brilliant

Then being in my 40s I would add that any WW2 film would sneek into a top 20, someone mentioned Where Eagles Dare which is another one I love, The Great Escape, SPR, and the various Bridge at xxx type films.

second three
1) Circus of Horrors (brilliant over the top acting by Anton Diffring)
2) anything with Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple
3) anything with Baz Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes

Worried by the number of people who have put Zulu here...

A film essentially about England invading an African nation and then being lauded as heroes for fighting off the local people with much superior firepower...

The present day comparative is like if a country invaded UK, got themsleves an area in London and throw nuclear bombs at those trying to attack them

Man, this is tougher than that music thread. After a bit of thought mine are

The Outlaw Josey Wales. Love all of Eastwoods westerns but this tops the bill.
The African Queen. Bogart was on top of his game in this flick.
Dual. Spielbergs first movie. Made on a cheap budget, now a cult classic. Has me gripped every time no matter how often I watch it.

Also a great fan of American 1920's/30's gangster/prohibition films. Wow, the dudes, the sassy broads, the cars, the music, the sound of old American police car sirens. Magic.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

So byy that logic, any film that includes the murder of innocents, is banned from your list? So a lot of thrillers out there then.

Anything thats a musical because its not realistic as people dont go round singing to large orchestra's.

Anything thats space themed as its unrealistic, any thing Tolkein ditto.

hmmmm, i suppose you could make an arguement for anything like that.
