Strange game we all seem to have seen slightly differently.

Kone the stand out player over the 90

Not the best quality. Thought we looked much the better team first 20 but then for the next 50 mins were a
Sloppy and looked nervous. Saito made a big difference and Kone led the line . A proper CF! Blimey. Take the points !

Not loving Walsh in goal but this was a far better performance, played mostly on the front foot. Better use of width and Kone's forward play was outstanding. I liked Norrington-Davies' combination with Smyth on the left and thought he gave some solidity to the back which allowed Mbengue to step into midfield. Vale in the 'ten' role looked comfortable and his vision and passing put pressure on the Charlton's defence.
Saito's goal was a thing of beauty.

A game that for a long time looked like it could go either way and I feared the worst. Scrappy, lots of head tennis, punctuated with periods of good play. I thought Kone looked really tired and I expected him to be hooked. However, he kept going and played a vital part.
Good substitutions which swung the match in our favour.
Mbengue was really good managing to be first to so many balls and blocked shots and crosses. I initially thought MOM but he nearly gave a penalty away and then later was lucky not to get a second yellow. Got to be Saito, great impact and lovely goal.

Better than expected. Three decent goals, no flukes or own goals. Kone too slow to react in midfield but took his goal well. Subs made a terrific differenc.Walsh needs to go out on loan to a first division team and Nardi restored. But to be fair Walsh has greatly reduced his suicide short clearances and now does some long range distribution. Overall a draw could easily have happened; and Charlton were quite poor throughout. Hopefully there's plenty similar squads in the Champions championship or we could have another difficult season.

Whole game changed on Saitos introduction. I was at Coventry so obvious improvements in that RND an upgrade, Jimmy and Varane getting fitter, Madsen better in that position at home, Mbengue sadly better than Cook is at the moment, Kone a beast, Smyth energy and pace shows he doesn’t deserve the stick. Vale looks the part after the sad Morgan nightmare last week. Biggest thing for me is that the subs bench felt like an extension of the team not lesser than1st choice 11. Charlton goal not Walsh’s fault the more you look at it, more a freak goal

What a difference long balls and a proper CF can make. Rs were much more physical and assertive from the start but then conceded a lot of possession, and in truth were a little lucky in the end. The Charlton goal had been coming. Our subs, esp Koki, made the difference. Far from convinced by Walsh and although Kone did well some of the online comments have been over the top. Madsen is improving and did well to hang on in there in a game he wasn't suited to. My MotM is Varane, but it was a good all round performance. More please!
