The Frankie Friday Music Thread.....RIP 07:01 - Apr 4 with 2617950 viewsLblock

Here I am starting this from my recovery bed and no clue how to link tunes on an iPhone!

Will stick on my offerings from a PC later unless the other knuckles thread is the preference to use?

House classics and dancey dazzlers only, no hijacking from suicide rock please!

In the beginning there was jack.......

Been meaning to update for years.
Can only be one.......

has been doing the rounds for a few months and finally got a vinyl release last week.

edit by Luke Una and Luke Solomon

Spanish synthy version of Your Love; personally i love it and dropped into an eclectic set works really well.

Yeh this is in the basket. I like it. Mr Bongo releasing it. This was made 12 years ago but Luke Una has done this re edit.

the Tiny Desk Concert has a brilliant back catalogue; often dip into something random.

Same mate, in that’s what I’ll be doing - only discovered it last week.

My jam. Love Jimpster, really love this remix of Charles Webster.

If you will indulge me...

Years ago, my mate had just helped me move into an apartment over a shop on West Street in Sheffield. We were surrounded by boxes, and all I'd managed to unpack was a clothes hanger to dry some washed underwear on, one turntable, and one record, The Orb's Back To Mine.

(what a compilation btw: https://www.discogs.com/release/104571-The-Orb-Back-To-Mine?srsltid=AfmBOorR9pcg

So we took a large handful of magic mushrooms to celebrate.

Then, just as they started to kick in, he got a text message from his girl friend and had to leave in a hurry. I looked him, like - are you joking, you're about to leave me on my own, tripping balls, with only my drying boxer shorts to talk to?! He shrugged and left.

So I spent the next few hours listening to that record on repeat, in a room lit by a single desk lamp, looking at and occasionally chatting to the swirling, fractal faces emerging from my boxer shorts.

This tune always take me back to that strange evening. Be no one indeed.

Actually now I think of it it's the original version on that compilation, even deeper and trippier than the still very cool Jimpster edit.

Haha, great story.

I love those back to mine comps and I also have that one.
I think there are a couple of Aphex Twin tracks on it aren't there?

Yeah I actually bought it because it was an opportunity to own Polynomial C on vinyl, an all time fave tune, although quickly realized there was no real way to mix it with anything else I owned! And those comp 12 inches were always really thick and heavy to mix with anyway

Great track, agreed.

I think it was on that Xylem EP though wasn't it?

Those Back to mine were really good. I had Underworld's and the Audio Bullys .
Looking on Discogs, it looks like Nick Warren done the very first one. Who knew?

Btw that Charles Webster track has kicked in and a section of my brain is trying to make me trip out again. Mild flutters of psychedelic hallucinogenic memories, while the rest of my brain is telling me its currently midnight and i have to be up at 6 and go to work. Ffs
