Feeling sorry for his players.

Quickest the club have got to 50 points in this League.

Strange to play ill players out of position ahead of fit players in their usual positions ? Ah well - at least we are record breakers!

Again.

Records broken every season. To get to 50 points so quickly is no mean achievement. That's worth celebrating, despite the recent disappointments.

I said last Saturday that I couldn't remember such a long running list of injuries, sicknesses etc. I don't think Keith has had to deal with problems on this scale in his managerial career to date. From the tone of that interview, he is clearly still suffering from his recent bereavement and I have no doubt that in the coming weeks and months when his head is clearer, he may well look back on this period and think he might have done a few things differently, but at the end of the day, it is just a game, and fingers crossed we will avoid L2 for another year and have another assault on the Championship with renewed vigour ( and finances)next season.

Interesting to hear him believe we could have made a real challenge for promotion/playoffs and how injuries and suspensions have affected that. It's spot on. As is how we've dealt with that situation, over-complicating selections and tactics have contributed too.

We're having a good season, of that there isn't doubt. It could have been a great one but there's nobody who'll argue that it's still a campaign that illustrates how well we are doing as a club. Learning to keep things simple when there are injuries etc and we can do even better.

well since havent been in 'this league' for many seasons its not much of a record and if you want to include all seasons in the third level and adjust earlier seasons by awarding three points for a win then we reached 50 points after only 30 games in 1969-70.

But lets not stop Keith adding 'fake' news to his CV

Just don't mention who our next home game is against eh?

Maybe leaving it up on the fixture board will persuade some of their fans to visit again next week. They can invade the pitch when Gillingham score a consolation.

Yep. One person has one job to do on a Monday morning. Update the fixture board.
It ain't difficult.

Too much expectation.

I'd be happy if Dale removed that "next fixture" board and replaced it with a digital advertisement for whatever anybody is prepared to pay.

It's not quite as sentimental as an old fashioned cricket scoreboard, it's simply a method of conveying information that can be picked up by TV, Radio, Press, Internet, Smartphone, Normal Phone, Poster, Fixture Card or god forbid word of mouth.

Even Teletext is extinct yet this blinking thing gets brought up as a stick to beat when individuals are feeling grumpy.

Got to agree with that. It should have gone a few years back when it was an issue time and again.

It's amazing it still comes up as an issue so might as well cut our losses and get rid in favour of something more effective.

Suspect the 16 year old left back is Keith Kearney (think he's just turned 17) and has represented Northern Ireland at under 17 level. Played 5 and scored 2 for them.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

I'm sure he's very good, but we've already got two left-backs with first team experience in the squad. It would be nice to know why they aren't being utilised.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Shellshocked we didn't win - he sounds completely gutted in the interview. Says he doesn't believe in luck per se although thought we were unlucky tonight. No questions about our defence or tendency to leak late goals.

That's something that's hard to comprehend, why isn't he at least asked about it so that supporters could get an insight into what's happening? Similarly more around the selections, is it that hard to find out why players have been utilised or not?

Generally all the interviews are an open opportunity for Keith to give his opinion on the game or general matters with no searching questions. That's fine on a certain level but it does mean we get little insight into selections and in-game detail, plus behind the scenes stuff, as he doesn't give much away. In the last couple of seasons there have been a few situations with players disappearing for a while and signings that haven't worked and some odd team choices. We've been left to guess the truth behind it all - eg with players getting frozen out like Tanser, Bunney, McDermott, Taylor we can only assume it's attitude/fitness without really knowing. Bizarre team selections like the Andrew/Hendo full back strangeness at Peterboro aren't questioned. Hilly is clearly a bit of a genius - eg converting Bunney into a quality full back, or tactically changing games midway through and getting unlikely wins like Orient and Millwall away, but there is a bit of madness that comes with the genius , as in the unpredictable team selections and constant chopping and changing. It would be nice to get a bit more insight into the way his mind works and why he makes certain decisions rather than just speculate.

info from Hill and the club would be nice. Spurs put out a full statement about Kane's injury, virtually as soon as the scan results were in. Why can't we. person A isnt being considered because......... Our new left backs are being left back because...... communication is a wonderful thing. Rochdale seem scared of it

In some of the North American sports, players not named in the matchday line up are listed as not dressed/injured (with details albeit often vague, of the injury) or not dressed/coachs decision (which means dropped or not selected.

In Australian rugby league the weekly match programme lists all injured playersfor a club with an estimate of the date that they are currently expected to be fit. The competition is played in 'rounds' so the players is listed as, say, knee injury/week 7. for long term injuries it will list them as 'season' or 'indefinite'. Folks not in the matchday squad and not on the injured list are by a process of elimination seen to have been dropped.

I suspect some of the professional princesses that play our game couldn't take the stress associated with being listed as dropped!

As you say, its all about communicating with the 'customer'.

I do wonder if there is some secrecy surrounding "availability" to avoid giving away a perceived tactical advantage to the opposition, but if all teams were compelled to declare like this, there shouldn't really be any. Furthermore, KH hinted there could be a younger look to the team at MK, Lund and Davies popped back into the line up, and we proceeded to lose. No advantage there then.

Then there's the issue of transparency around all this season's injuries .......... would anyone ever leave the pub on match days if it was published?

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!
