In a strange twist of events l found myself in conversation with a young lady who had attended Layer Road for a match against Hull City in our first season in The Championship. The 5-1 encounter.

We were attending a promo evening for a band called The Datsuns in North London in 2008.

During the evening she explained that she had been present at a party that made the national news due to the tragic death of someone by the name of Mark Blanco.

The incident occurred in December 2006.

This incident will be shown on Channel 4 on Monday night at 22.00 in an hour long documentary and several people known to me have made contributions.

It may be of interest to some.

I am very much hoping that the police will reinvestigate the death of Mark Blanco as a result of what will be included in the content.

I know that what l was told by this young lady 15 years ago has been instrumental in the making of this documentary.

I've been reading about 'Out of Body' experiences.

It's just research really for something l may or may not write about at some stage.

I have never had an out of body experience but there have been a couple of things that featured throughout the journey that interest me.

Firstly, sometimes when l am dreaming l am aware that it is a dream and it gives me the freedom to be fearless and extend the dream and be prepared to take the dream far further than anything l would consider in real life.

There is something else that l only recalled yesterday.

When l was about six or seven years old l used to be laying in bed trying to go to sleep and l had the fear of something behind me.

It was an unidentified and unworldly threat.

It used to come on quite suddenly but l somehow discovered a way of instantly repelling the threat.

I did so by placing my right hand behind me and placing it in the middle of my back.

As soon as l did this l experienced a soothing and safety from whatever the threat was.

Sometimes l may have had to repeat this a few times but it was a remedy to removing the threat.

I never mentioned this to my parents or anyone else up until now.

I have however had numerous experiences of poltergeist activity.

These occured for around 10 years shortly after my children came into being.

( TBC ).

Having skimmed the surface of out of body experiences -.of which my dying mother relayed in Colchester General Hospital it appears to me that this is hyper gamma brain activity.

It seems that the brain may be capable of sending out signals minutes, hours and even days after death.

It's the kind of images that are common place in a fifth of people who experience this that are of interest.

In my mother's case it went something like this.

'I went up WHOOSH in a plane. It was full. ( She had never flown ).The sky was brighter than usual. There were gates and someone came out and said GO BACK, IT IS NOT YOUR TIME. There were crowds of people up there. Men, women and children.

Last night's dream.

( Just to explain, l sent a copy of Issue One of 'Monster' to Peter Doherty in France a while ago ).

I see Peter unloading a car. He has a guitar and a few amps and speakers. I ask him what he is doing in Colchester and he says he has a gig at The Affair Club. ( It closed years ago ).

I ask him what time he is on and he says around nine so l say I'll be there.

I get there around nine and it is in the original club / disco area down the stairs.

There are around 30 or 40 people.milling around and l get speaking to his wife Katia.

She says he won't be on for over an hour and we end up going back to my former marital home for some reason.

We knock on the door and there is my wife.

I introduce Katia to her and she doesn't seem in the least bit interested.

We sit down and l noticed a male around 20 years of age asleep in what looked like a crib and he has a bobble hat on. A multi coloured thing.

My wife is watching television.

The kids aren't anywhere to be seen. Perhaps they were in bed asleep.

We drive back to The Affair. It's around 10.30.

Peter still hasn't started and is fumbling around with wires and plugging things in. Then he is pulling the plugs out.

The audience has grown to around 50 and they are sitting back against the wall waiting for the gig to start.

It didn't start.

Shame that - was looking forward to it.

Last night's dream.

I'm riding my black horse through the Dutch Quarter in Colchester.

Judging by the attire being worn and the condition and colouring of the buildings l estimate the year to be between 1750 and 1800..

In the area close to where Princess Margaret once turned up at The Youth House around 1971 there is a woman hanging on to a wooden stake.

She appears to be drunk on ale. She waves up at me and beckons a ride on my horse to take her home.

She has a brown cloth bag in her hand and it makes a jangling sound.

Next thing it is 2025 ish and we are running towards Fenwicks in Colchester High Street and being chased by a herd of wild cattle.

We go into Fenwicks and make our way to the coffee shop via the escalator that is lit up in neon lights.

The coffee shop appears to be inhabited by cardboard cutouts of people other than the waitress who is real but comes in the form of a slithering sea serpent as she approaches us to take our order.

We order ice cream topped with marmalade.

It was her idea.

Last night's dream...

After watching 'The Life and Death of Peter Sellers' on BBC 2 late last night l was expecting a visually stimulating dream - not so.

Two of us are painting the side of a red brick house in Ipswich Road, Colchester in horizontal sweeps of a large brush in a beige or magnolia colour scheme.

We are working from the bottom up which is the wrong way and have got to about eye level when we take a break.

A fair amount of traffic is coming past and dust is being blown up against the wet paint.

______

It was of interest to me that last night's film actually depicted an out of life experience when Peter Sellers had succumbed to a series of heart attacks which was in keeping with a little research l am currently doing.

I try to steer clear of anything political on here or elsewhere but it appears to me that an emergency General Election should be called after events in Downing Street over the past 48 hours!

The people running this country are xxxxxxx useless!

The Angela Rayner fiasco is a national and international embarrassment and disgrace!

There is a new party waiting in the wings -.The Inflatable Polar Bears!

It would be interesting to see what a hand writing expert would make of the note that The Prime Minister hastily scrawled in response to the resignation from his Cabinet member and deputy Angela Raynor.

It would also be interesting to see what a body language and facial expression expert makes of the mental state of our Prime Minister following recent events ( including the fires ).

Last night's dream...

It is 1966. I am at Layer Road and Colchester United are playing a home league match but l can't work out who the opposition are.

I'm standing at the front of what later became known as Terrace Three and Brian Hall is racing down the right wing ( not the left wing! ).

He fires in a cross which is met at the near post with a diving header by Ken Hodgson and the ball is in the back of the net!

I am jumping up and down and applauding.

The goal is disallowed.

Not sure why, - couldn't see anything wrong with it.

Suddenly l am transported to a clothes shop at Headgate which was known as Sacks and Brendlor ( it's an estate agents these days and has been many other things over the years ).

I purchase a black leather coat for £7 and as l leave the shop l decide to jump on a light blue Cortina car bonnet ( not sure why, it's nothing l would usually consider ).

Next thing l have arrived at Butlin's Holiday Camp in Clacton and there are a line of giant candy flosses where the trees should be.

Colchester High Street, 1969 - 1971.

These two years in particular had an effect on me in visual terms.

The visuals l refer to represent the first time l ever saw some particular LP album sleeves.

I think the record shops back then put the LP's in a plain white lightweight carrier bag.

These records became something of a badge of honour and were exhibited by their owners with some degree of pride and possibly with the white bags discarded in a litter bin.

Some of these records would be shown in coffee shops....in particular the L'Palette at 64a High Street.

Here are a few that l recall.

Skin Alley - Policeman bleach out image.

Fleetwood Mac - Dust bin in backstreet alley.

The Deviants - The Nun image cut out on blue background with lolly.

The Groundhogs - comic strip graphic illustration.

Taste - face image

Deep Purple - faces sculptured from rock

I would see many more at parties but l can almost recall the exact spot when this images were x -rayed into the memory bank.

Several of these were in the vicinity of where Waterstones is now located

Another outside Mann's Music Shop.

One outside Woolworths before it was burned down.

Here are some other locations and circumstances of my first introduction to the music of the day back then.

My friend brings an LP to my home and insists l put it on straight away.

It was Led Zeppelin One!

I visit another individual in Defoe Cresent.

He has just purchased the Beatles White album.

We play one of the records while looking at the pictures and poster and admiring the fact that there was no sleeve design as such.

I listen to Hot Buttered Soul by Issac Hayes at 17 Sheepen Road.

My first introduction to Van Morrison is the Astral Weeks album in a flat above Jacks - now part of the Three Wise Monkeys set up.

Captain Beefheart at a crazy house party in Roddam Close, Colchester.

Atomic Rooster at another house party in Victoria Road.

Also worth a mention is the juke box in The Headgate where we would meet up prior to diving into a van and head up to the Uni after hearing Speed King about five times by Deep Purple.

Last night's dream ..

It seems like the eighties.

I'm working in the West End of London.

Take the Central Line back to Liverpool Street.

There is a problem.with the trains.

They are not running.

Buses have been laid on and they are all the way up Bishopsgate and beyond.

There are London red double deckers, single deckers and coaches.

It's mayhem.

I ask a transport worker where l can find something going to Colchester.

He says 'follow me'.

Which l do but am disappointed to be shown onto a bus that has Margate on the front.

I figure he must know different as l have followed him about 200 yards and he seems to know what's what.

It's around 7pm and being the eighties and all the call boxes l passed were in use l have no way of informing my wife of my whereabouts.

We set off. As far as l can make out we are not headed towards Colchester or Margate and are approaching Stoke Newington.

I ask a fellow passenger where we are headed and he looks up from his Evening Standard and says High Wycombe.

I think xxxx me I am going in the wrong direction and if this was a train l would pull the communication cord.

I decide to jump through the window and end up on a grass verge.

There is a sign for Hatfield and The North which seemed like a good omen of sorts.

Sparkfilms TV are delighted to announce the addition of two new members of our news gathering team who will cover the South East of England.

Swoop and Squork are seagulls from the Clacton on Sea and Brighton areas respectively and come highly recommended..

Swoop became known for stealing a large cod from the plate of Nigel Farage on Clacton seafront last October and Squork managed to discharge himself on the head of Captain Starmer to the delight of onlookers in Hove recently.
