Strangely English 15:37 - Jan 15 with 11109 views | Boston | ...English. I've probably had to explain something or be informed that a certain term or saying is 'quaint, unusual, or simply something from a Dickens novel, every couple of months I've lived in this country. I've had two in the last couple of days A/ Early doors (huh?). B/ Mustn't grumble (quaint). Any others? [Post edited 15 Jan 15:38]

Ball must travel its circumference forward at a kick off. Three Bob admission to stand on the first crash barrier on the half way line, a Bob for a programme and a tanner for a pack of Percy Daltons, and music played at half time available from WG Stores on Shepherds Bush Market and ….. we always win at home, don’t we? FMOB - do me a favour, it’s football on a different planet now! Bring back English in the sixties! [Post edited 15 Jan 18:35]

Similar experience with a flatmate when I was living in Atlanta. Although he grasped the basic application and when to correctly use the 'dog's bollox', he got confused when we were out one night and met some English guys, with the derivatives: 'mutt's nuts', 'dog's danglies', 'the mutt's' and 'the dog's'. | |
