Now Chief Executive Officer.

Swansea City is delighted to announce the promotion of Tom Gorringe to Chief Executive Officer of the club.

Tom brings with him over 15 years of experience in professional football, the majority of which has been in the Premier League and Championship. He joined the club as Chief Operating Officer at the start of the year, and in his new role, will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the football club.

Tom has a reputation for demonstrating strong financial management at his previous clubs, improving infrastructure, increasing revenues, driving the matchday experience whilst also ensuring operational efficiency.

"I’m under no illusions that there is a lot to do, but I am excited to take on this role at the club. Since joining, I have been impressed with the staff and the vast potential at the club as well as the ambition of the ownership group. We have everything that we need here to be successful. We want to build on our strong foundations and drive the club towards sustainable success that gets us back to competing at the top of the division. The ownership group is fully committed to delivering success for this club, and I’m honoured to be the person that they’ve entrusted to deliver for them.”

7 years at Bristol Rovers. Hopefully he will be in this position for a while so we can have some stability at the club. Let's hope things are going to improve off and on the field. We got alot of the teams below us so we should stay up.

"We met Tom in the winter of 2024, and we were immediately impressed speaking with him," said a joint statement from Swansea shareholders Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen.

So definitely a Cravatt and Cohen move. Looks like the new money is starting to flex it's muscle.

An experienced football administrator will implement ways to counter the P&S rules. Other clubs in the championship have run up bigger losses than us over the 3 year cycle and have kept within the rules. Coleman has no idea about British football and made some terrible mistakes regarding this. Losses and debt are totally different things and need to be managed differently to comply with the regulations. Coleman either couldn't understand this or his hands were tied by Kaplan and Levien. Expect a totally different outlook going forward.

Spending on stadiums doesn't come under P&S. Apparently they are looking to raise £2 Billion to fund the development. By the time they sort out a lease for what the football requires, then arrange an income from various units, throw in massive hospitality opportunities. They will probably make a profit out of it.

Judging by his CV he will not be around long. A couple of seasons maybe. The idea was to have an investor in charge to engender loyalty.

Two seasons would be a remarkable success with the clubs track record on all employees appointed over the past five years.

I would have expected Gude to become CEO with his business experience.
Will Ken now report into Tom?

That's the way I see it, with Richard Montague going chairman. I expected Gude to go back with Coleman if I am honest.

I would expect the next chairman to be one of the current investors.
Montague does not have the experience to be chairman and his focus needs to be on squad improvement.

Will there be a Xhairman, is it written that a board of directors need one or can that be a ceo ?

I don't think Trevor Birch was a shareholder when chairman although they included some shares in his package when he joined. As I remember it.

In some companies, you can have an executive chairman which is the CEO/chairman role combined.
Ideally the CEO should not be chairing the regular board meetings.

The Chairman can also act as a buffer between the CEO and the investors.

And I think it is the chairman at each club who carries the vote at any EFL board meetings.

I'd be interested to know as to what he's achieved whilst he's been here, I doubt that we'll ever find out.

But it's fair to say that the shambles at the club as got worse with Coleman and Gude here, at least the other investors have at last woken up to the situation.

Just hope it's not to late, we need at least another two wins and we got a pretty tough run in, Derby and Plymouth are fighting for their Championship lives and history tells us that we don't really do that well when we play those sort of sides.

My son was in Uni ( UWE) in Bristol, living in a HMO house with twin Bristol Rovers fans.

When it was announced recently that Gorringe was going to be our CEO, they texted my son. To say how Gorringe, while at an executive position at Rovers, tried to have a stand built, but without applying for Planning Permission.

They said Good Luck having him making decisions.
